I encountered this racket during my student days when I was obsessed with table equipment, and I've been using it for many years since falling in love with its performance.
I own a considerable number of famous hinoki single-ply rackets, including several Speed series, Super Special A, Cypress, Olympus, Genesis, etc., but this racket has such a captivating charm that it elevates them to the level of works of art.
It's common for someone with mediocre technique and years of experience to suddenly discover the greatness of a classic racket and rubber, and I believe this racket can fulfill that role for Japanese penhold players.
By changing the rubber according to your skill level, it's a racket that can be used by beginners to advanced players.
If you ask if it's similar to a single-ply racket, I'd say it's quite different except for the thickness and feel of the ball. In particular, in situations where power and distance are required, it doesn't come close to a single-ply racket; there's no comparison.
Conversely, for fine techniques such as serves and table play, you should benefit from the advantages of a plywood racket. Intermediate and advanced players who struggle with anything other than drives and smashes will likely discover a lot by using this type of racket.

Why not try combining a classic racket with classic rubber and practice to relearn your skills and win matches?
