I don't see anyone using it with a pen-type rubber, but I choose to use it.
The reason is that I want to break down my opponent with my forehand and I want something unexpected.
In practice, it makes my push shots and drives more knuckle-like and my short shots go low, so it's quite useful.
For those who aren't interested in using a pen-type rubber and aren't winning, or who feel like they're reaching a dead end, it might be worth considering a rubber that allows you to hit balls with this kind of "quirk."All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft
