      I don't see many penholders using short pips, but I use it on purpose.
      The reason is I want to throw my opponent off on the forehand and add an element of surprise.
      In actual play, pushes and drives come out with a knuckle-ish quality, and my short game stays low, so it's really useful.
      For anyone who isn't interested in short pips but isn't winning, or feels stuck, a rubber that produces this kind of "quirky" ball might be worth considering.
