  • DO Knuckle (Short pimples)

    User review

I tried the extra-thin thickness, reviewing it from a chopper's point of view. First, the feel is close to long pips, especially very close to GRASS. Compared to other short pips on the spectrum, the feel on the ball is different enough to make you wonder "is this really short pips?" Unlike GRASS, the ball doesn't automatically come back with backspin on its own — you choose whether to put spin on it or not as you hit. For pushes over the table and chop-blocks, long pips still has the edge. But personally, I find pushes easier with this one.

Also, true to the nature of short pips, the knuckle chop becomes a big weapon. It's very hard to tell whether a chop is a knuckle or has real backspin. It can confuse opponents with variation even more than long pips, so you can hold your own with chops even from far back. I feel like I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to win through variation. I also personally rate it highly for being able to chop with enough power to stand up to smashes and hard hits without losing to the ball's force.
