I used a hinoki single-ply blade over 30 years ago, and this brought it all flooding back. Above all, that distinctive "snap" of a hinoki blade sending the ball flying is genuinely fun. On offense, if you trust the blade and swing through properly, the ball comes out with great extension. Chops need a faster swing, but the return comes back low and skimming. If your opponent closes in and hits a fast topspin drive, I think it's better to ride it out with a chop-block rather than a regular chop, and counter-hitting is quite effective too.
I used Rakza 7 on the forehand and V11 extra-thick on the backhand, but for a chopper I think V11 max-thickness on the forehand would be good.

It's also good for choppers. The control is outstanding above all. Drives naturally get a nice arc, so you can swing with confidence. As for flat hits, the initial speed is fast, which I think makes it easy to mix up the pace with your drives.
