This kind of performance for this price is just wrong (in a good way). You get a fair amount of speed, and yet it still puts this much spin on the ball. Table tennis got fun again once I started using this. What's great about this rubber is the outstanding grip you get from the soft sponge, combined with the control that comes from its high tolerance. It's light, and no matter how hard you swing it keeps landing on the table — that sense of security isn't something you get from other tension rubbers. For about the first two weeks, it feels just like Tenergy. That said, because the sponge is soft, the topsheet and sponge wear out faster. You don't get that "even worn out, it's still Tenergy" feeling (where Tenergy stays strong even after it degrades) with this one.

Tacky rubbers and pure wood blades tend to be a good match, since the good ball-holding feel of pure wood pairs well with a tacky rubber's ability to hold the ball. With this combination, though, speed can fall short, and trading blows from mid-distance is tough unless you bring a fairly strong impact. However, Shoryu 2 makes up for that lack of speed by blending tacky rubber with tension technology.
On the forehand, I was able to drive fast shots not only close to the table but from mid-distance as well. Since it's a very light rubber, topspin rallies were easy too. That said, on the backhand, my own lack of skill meant I couldn't really sink the ball into it.
This is a rubber I'd recommend both to beginners trying a tacky rubber for the first time and to intermediate players who are already somewhat used to tacky rubbers.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

A 7-ply blade with great control and a soft feel to the wood. That's about the only standout feature. It's really made for beginners, but even a full-swing drive still lands on the table. That's about the extent of this blade's advantages. If you want your equipment to boost your speed or spin, you should go for a special-material blade instead. That's the wiser move for anyone at intermediate level.

I currently have Rakza 7 (thick) on both sides. I used to play with different rubbers on each side and flip the racket to mix up pace, but I switched to the same rubber on both sides to fix my form.
Quick, compact drives were tricky to pull off, but on impact-style drives the sponge grips the ball well, giving a decent amount of spin. Blocks came out on a straight line and were easy to hit. Chiquita, though, often went long because the sponge grabbed the ball too much. Overall the ball draws a solid arc, but it can also fly fairly flat.
Once again, Yasaka makes rubbers that just work well for me.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
