Akita Prefectural Gymnasium is located in Yabase Sports Park in Akita City and is operated by the Akita Prefectural General Public Corporation as designated manager. The large hall has a floor area of 1,730 sq m (usable area 1,550 sq m, cherry wood flooring) and a capacity of about 3,500 people, and can be used for basketball, volleyball, badminton, soft tennis, handball and gymnastics as well as table tennis. There is also a small hall (floor area 463.1 sq m) and men's and women's waiting rooms. Individual use takes the form of the general-admission "Enjoy Sports Day", and new sports equipment is lent out free of charge.
