Actually, of all of them, the D-40 is the one made with the most care and dedication (compared to the 50, 60, 100, the 10mm Kiwami, and the Extra 950/10).
The 10mm Kiwami surpasses even the performance of the Darker 90. Kokutaku's selection process for hinoki (cypress) wood is genuinely reliable. The hinoki used in the D-40 is specially selected - there are no duds.
I'd love for people to use Butterfly's Cypress V-max 10mm and the D-40 9mm side by side over time and compare them. Neither one ever warps or deforms.
