Spring (Experience: １１〜２０ years) Hammond FA Speed makes its renewed debut

I used the thick version.
Compared to the Hammond FA Speed, the pips feel a bit more tightly packed. Sonic AR feels a touch harder in comparison.
The molding is a lot more compact, which seems like a nice consideration for penhold players.
Since it's harder, flat hits fly off crisply and lightly, more so than with the Hammond FA Speed.
But I did feel it got a bit harder to produce knuckleballs. Not sure if that's because the pip fabric got stronger or because the spacing got narrower.
There's less of a slipping feeling, so spin-based techniques like topspin drives feel more stable.
Even players who normally use inverted rubber said the ball doesn't drop as easily and is easy to hit.
It flies more mildly than the Morist SP, so it also seems like a good first choice for players thinking about switching from inverted rubber or a spin-oriented short pips to a speed-oriented short pips.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Fore Table (Experience: ４〜５ years) The best short-pips rubber!

Especially recommended for close-to-the-table attacking players. It has strong pace and makes angled shots very easy!
Even players without much power can hit good balls with a compact swing! On top of that, it grips the ball quite well, making it easy to mix up pace. However, it's hard to produce knuckle balls, so it's not a great fit for players who want to win with variation even on a backhand short pips setup.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Former Single-Sided Pen Man (Experience: １１〜２０ years) Easier to handle than tension rubbers

Using this on the forehand side of a Chinese penhold blade. It might partly be because my blade has a modest bounce, but light shots don't really fly, while a hard swing gives a decent amount of speed. For a speed-oriented rubber, it's easy to put spin on and generates a moderate amount.
Rather than living up to the "it's all about flying" sales pitch, I think this is actually a well-balanced, easy-to-handle rubber.
It's not a tension rubber but a high-elasticity one, which explains that. It's a good rubber that makes it easy to mix up pace.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Using the thick version
The feel of impact is easy to read, and it's easy to control ◎
Flat hits feel great ◎
Not much slipping when you put spin on it, feels good ○
If you don't have the technique to hold back, blocks fly off too much △
The trajectory is straight, but you can also create an arc. ○
However, the ball comes back pretty plain and predictable... △
For serves, it's easier than average for short pips to put spin on ◎

It's a non-tension rubber, but when you hit it just right, the speed can actually exceed tension rubbers.
I'm using the "thick" thickness, the third from the top. The pips are on the smaller side, which makes it easy to control.
The spin is about average for short pips, I'd say. Even so, it can generate enough spin on backspin serves to make opponents net the ball.
The phrase "short pips are all about speed!" is true in one sense, but I think this is actually a pretty well-balanced rubber.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Used the medium thickness on my backhand as a chopper.
It's not a tension rubber, but the speed is on par with or even faster than tension rubbers. And it still has the handling and ball-holding feel typical of a non-tension rubber.
The sound when you hit it flat is satisfying too.For a chopper's rubber it bounces a bit much, but the sponge is soft, so it's relatively easy to brush the surface of the sheet, giving it tremendous spin.
When you don't have time for a full brushing motion, if you chop straight down like a defensive short block, you get a nasty chop that's hard to tell apart from a knuckleball.It's not a rubber in a category that sells well, but I think it's a masterpiece with no flaws to be found.

I was using Hammond FA and got curious about the new rubber, so I gave it a try.
Looking at it, the pips are smaller than the Hammond FA's.
I compared it side by side with the Hammond FA, but the bounce was about the same and I couldn't really tell a difference.
It doesn't fly too much, so I think it's easy to use for the short game.
If you already use Hammond FA, maybe just go with whichever is cheaper??Rubbers I've used in the past
