This racket is used by a 5th-grade child with 2.5 years of table tennis experience.
She uses a short-pips rubber on her backhand, playing a close-to-the-table, unconventional style.
Forehand: Galaxy Moon Blue 2.2mm
Backhand: HASS 1.8mmBoth rubbers were purchased from WRM.
She's a small child and can't win with power, so to increase the spin on her serves and forehand drives (which are loops), she wanted to increase the spin. She originally used an Acoustic 5-ply racket, but changed to a sticky rubber and therefore a different racket.
First, she broke in the racket for two months with the Nittaku Brass Tack rubber that was on the Acoustic before switching to the sticky rubber.
Even with her small hands, she can grip it firmly, but the edges bothered her, so we rounded them with sandpaper.
The racket weighs 84g, but as advertised, it seems to be a good match even with sticky rubber.
She's now able to score quite a few points with her serves and drives.
However, the ball seems to leave the racket faster than when she was using the Acoustic.
There are almost no easy mistakes on the table.
Powerful shots produce satisfyingly good balls.
This 7-ply blade offers just the right balance of price and performance.
