When I was in the second and third years of junior high school, I was able to win mainly by using speed drives, but when I became a high school student, I was hitting the bottom of the net too often when I was using both-handed drives or when I wanted to chori, so I changed to the Inner Force Layer ALC. Speed drives are easy to hit unless you're using a blistering underspin, so I think they're good for beginners.
