Kataoka Sports is a long-established specialist table tennis shop near Numabukuro Station in Nakano Ward, founded in 1981.
Centred on equipment sales and on table tennis classes and lessons, we have walked alongside our customers for 30 years.
In our early days we only sold equipment, visiting local mothers who played table tennis to sell them products.
At the time we coached free of charge as a sales service, but before long more and more people asked for lessons, and that is how our present classes and lessons began.
After that we helped spread PTA tournaments at kindergartens, elementary schools and junior high schools, growing together with the Nakano table tennis scene as a quiet supporting force.
Those tournaments are now firmly established, and for many people they are the reason they took up table tennis and the goal they aim for.
When the current shop opened 20 years ago, a customer said happily, "We built the pillars and walls of this practice hall, didn't we!" - and we still remember it clearly. We will not forget our gratitude for the many customers who have supported us over the years; we will keep our old-fashioned, homely atmosphere unchanged and keep working to make the shop better.
