For over 10 years I used Butterfly's Cypress, a single-ply hinoki blade, but as I've gotten older it's become harder for my movement to keep up, so I decided to seriously start working on my backhand (reverse side) technique. I was looking for a Japanese-penhold blade that's thin at 7mm and light at 75g, and flies about as well as a single-ply hinoki, and I settled on this Hinocarbon S.
I still haven't mastered the reverse-side technique, but I've learned that with Japanese penhold, the way you shape the grip and how you hold the racket are important for getting the right angle on the backhand. When I manage to return a fast serve coming to my left side well with the reverse side, I often get a shot with so much power my opponent can't return it.
Mainly hitting with the forehand side, the feel is completely different from a single-ply, but it flies about as well as a single-ply hinoki, is easy to control, and overall gives the impression of being an easy blade to use.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

I've been a loyal user of this Hinoki Carbon S for a long time. I think it performs way above its price point. It handles the short game well, of course, and it can also hold its own in topspin rallies from mid-distance without losing out. It flies really well, so much so that it still flies plenty even with tacky rubber on it. The forehand is easy to hit with, and the backhand works fine too. I especially find meet-hitting easy with it. The blade itself is light, so I think it's strong in rallies. When you get a solid impact on the ball, it seems to generate good spin too. I've test-hit a lot of blades, but I don't think there's another one with this good a value for the money. I'm very satisfied with it. If you're on the fence, why not give it a try?
