NO.1 table tennis review site

This is really good. It doesn't bounce much. But the ball comes off it well, so pushes are fast and blocks stay controlled. The Curl P2V is a variation-type short pips rubber — it produces less reversal spin than long pips, but still gives you some. On the other side, I'm using the Mokusei 5 Super Extra Thin (planning to switch to Taiyo Pro Extra Thin Blue Sponge), and if you slap it you get a fast knuckle ball, while a spun shot gives a slow, heavily spinning drive. Of course every technique is easy to do with this and it's easy to control. Falling back too far gets tough, so I felt I could compete fine up to mid-distance (beyond that, chopping is better). You can buy it for around ¥6,000, so if you want a low-bouncing reversible Japanese penhold blade, this might be for you.

I went from penhold-with-pips to penhold chopper, and I'd been using a Yoshida Kaii blade with Karl P3V and Sriver EL rubbers, but with this blade the ball flies too much, so on advice from the coach at Tometatsu I removed the cork on the back and use it that way. As a chopper it doesn't fly too much, and I can still attack with it, so it's a really great blade!

On the forehand I have a long-pips tension rubber from globe, the "Maou 2 OX," and on the backhand a "Rozena max thickness." When I had a Glass D.Tics on, it was the easiest to use, but this Maou 2 is the best. When you push, the trajectory is straight and slippery. The ball is clearly faster than with the Glass. The way an opponent's hard hit shockingly stops dead right at the net is honestly astonishing‼️ And on top of that, it automatically flips spin even more than the Glass. Opponents often tell me it's hard to play against. For the backhand, Rozena max thickness is best for me. It bites well and it's easy to serve long. With medium or thick, the serve often wouldn't reach far enough. When you're further back from the table, both the Maou 2 and the Rozena lose their effect drastically. I'd recommend this for players who stay close to the table. The feel in the hand is the best.

I've been using this as a penhold-with-long-pips setup for four or five years. It's more stable than a Chinese-style penhold blade and gives more power to my pushes.

I use this as a single-sided Japanese penhold blade. Even with rubber on, it's a light 95 grams (^o^) It doesn't bounce much, so when you make contact it lands within the opponent's court (^o^) It's thin so there's no need to sand down the edges (^o^) The now-rare round head shape looks really stylish too o(^o^)o I sincerely hope a stylish blade with all these nice features stays in production forever!
