NO.1 table tennis review site

I picked table tennis (large ball) back up as conditioning for golf. I bought the shakehand single-ply Nittaku Miyabi, which I'd had my eye on for a while. I use it alongside a penhold single-ply Butterfly Beauty Super that's more than 50 years old. Five years ago I was using a TSP large-ball shakehand blade (carbon plywood) and others.
Since I grew up playing single-ply penhold, the sticky, gripping feel on contact with the single-ply shakehand Miyabi is the best. It's the same feeling as when you catch the sweet spot on a forged soft-iron golf iron. I'm enjoying that satisfying feel on contact every week in practice.

The blade is fantastic.

Amazing feel and touch.

Fast.
A spin-friendly blade with a good forehand stroke and rubber pairing.
The control is good too. It's not quite as much control as the Darker Speed 90, but it's still high control. Definitely control in the 9/10 range.

I played with Tenergy 05 on it, but I like Rozena even more. The rubber and blade combination is really good.

The blade has a fantastic feel. Amazing touch.
I like this a little more than the PP Moby.

I can't go back to carbon blades anymore.

A very soft feel on contact that still sends the ball flying. It's quite a peaky blade, but as long as you don't get the rubber pairing wrong, it's a really interesting one to play with. Unrelated to play, but it also has a nice hinoki scent.

Since this is an unusual shakehand single-ply blade, it obviously won't suit everyone.

That said, ruling it out without even trying it, just because of preconceptions or your current playing style, would be a real shame.
If you have even a little interest, I'd recommend giving it a try at least once.
For those it suits, the feel of a hinoki single-ply blade is incredibly satisfying.
Also, the blade is very thick at 9mm, but for anyone who likes a blade that sits firmly in the hand with no play, I think this is extremely comfortable.

For choppers, there are some downsides - it "bounces too much," "feels small," "doesn't flex" - but I've been able to compensate well enough with rubber choice and technique.

Basically, you don't need to obsess too much over the specs - once you fall for it, everything else works itself out (lol).
