Apparently even the famous Norio Takashima used this back when he was an active player — it's an incredibly long-running classic.
Back then it was apparently a solid 3-ply hinoki blade, but the current version is 5-ply.The grip comes standard with genuine leather tape wrapped around it, but even wrapped, it still felt a bit thin to me.
It has that hard, distinctive hinoki feel, but when you hit hard, the blade flexes and you get a brief sensation of gripping the ball.
Because of that, spin — especially on chops — was very easy to generate. The power on drives and smashes doesn't match special-material or super-lively wood blades, but I think you can more than make up for that depending on how you play.
With rackets, what matters more than numbers on a spec sheet is whether it matches your own feel, so if you're curious about the hinoki feel, I think it's worth trying at least once.
