I put an OX version (no sponge, super-thin) on a Kohji Matsushita Offensive FL blade. It barely flies at all anymore. There were a few hints of bounce here and there, but yeah, having sponge is definitely better.
From a beginner chopper's point of view, it's most stable when swinging on the backhand. On the other hand, it feels off paired with short pips.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

The pips are hard too, which makes control and drives easy. But there's not much variation. I'd recommend Curl P3 for beginners. Butterfly doesn't put much effort into pips rubbers, so TSP is the way to go.

You can chop actively on your own, which is great. But attacking is a bit lacking.
Attack — Even though it's long pips, it has grip on the ball, which makes it a little awkward to use.
Push — Easy to do, and it bites a lot!
Chop — Excellent! Even if you chop with everything you've got, it doesn't go long, so it's stable! Recommended for chop beginners!
Chop-style block — Doesn't bite! Not stable! Not a good fit for short-game players.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

L For those who want to cover weaknesses, not sharpen strengths

One weakness of long-pips chopping is that opponents can target the pips side with soft, slow balls. With long pips, it's hard to put strong spin on a slow ball, so your return tends to become an easy ball that gets smashed.
But this rubber's pips have some hardness to them, so you can actively chop even a slow ball yourself, and I think that's its biggest advantage.
Its bite against strong drives isn't bad either, but if that's all you care about, something like P4 chops better.
So when choosing equipment: if you value the sharp bite that's the strength of long pips, go with the Curl series; if you'd rather shore up the weaknesses of long pips instead of maximizing bite, I'd recommend this Long 3.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I think this is the easiest long pips rubber to handle out there.
I actually started using it on my backhand back in middle school, and even though it's long pips, push, backhand drive, and punch shots were all relatively manageable.
That said, the flip side of that stability is that the trademark long-pips wobble is fairly mild. Still, opponents who aren't used to it will misjudge it plenty.
At a tournament in my first year of middle school, I played a much stronger third-year student and managed to take a set off them purely thanks to the knuckle effect. (Careful though — they adjust to it by the later games.)
As mentioned above, the wobble is relatively weak among pips rubbers, but it's still plenty effective.
I'd recommend beginners who plan to stick with long pips start with this one to get used to it.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I put this on a Kohji Matsushita Offensive blade, but the pips are a bit on the hard side, so unless your swing is really fast it won't bite. Also the blade is fast, so the ball flies off before you get a chance to chop it.
I used the super-thin version, but I think thin or super-thin is the way to go with this one.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Both chop and push have a lot of bite. It's also easy to control. That said, some might feel it's a bit more affected by incoming spin than you'd expect for pips.
It handles attacking well too. You can hit hard backhand smashes, and third-ball attacks are no problem. It might lean slightly toward short-pips characteristics though.
Not great for serving — you'll get killed on the third ball (lol)
