      When I first started playing large ball, I didn't like the feel of the overly soft sponges made for large ball, so I used the TSP Spectol made for hardbat instead. But after a while I started feeling overpowered on speed, so in my sixth year I switched to a large-ball rubber. It's true that it's fast, but the trait of this rubber is that you need a sharp, compact swing to get any speed out of it — probably because of the sponge. Also, the Spectol puts about twice as much spin on the ball. Serves that used to be easy aces with the Spectol now get returned. That said, since I use a Chinese-style penhold blade, I have Spectol on the back side, so I switch between the two for serving and receiving.

      Even with the 40mm ball, if this comes at you, you'll get knocked back.
      Large balls can sometimes lack punch, but with this rubber you can just grind away until your opponent cracks — and win!

      Speed, spin, and control have all gone up! You really can produce shots that don't feel like a large ball at all — it's surprising that you can score points with a push! Even just blocking the ball gives you a decent amount of spin, which makes it more stable!
