NO.1 table tennis review site

First off, I guess I should say — this is an "anti-spin rubber that's actually easy to attack with"? Like, seriously, an anti rubber you can actually attack with barely exists, so how can they sell it this cheap? (imagine that said in a thick accent). Topspin drives don't quite reach tension-rubber levels, but you get about as much spin as a high-elasticity rubber. You can do chiquita too, though it helps to add a little extra racket cover at the very end of the stroke — smashing is easy as well. Speed is decent, and of course the real appeal of an anti rubber is defense. Even though it's an attacking-style anti and has some bounce, on defense it plays just like a normal anti rubber. Blocks, chop-blocks, knuckle blocks — you can do them all freely. At this point I realized you can really jerk your opponent around with ease. The control is outstanding! Chops fly well too! And your pushes come out with a bit of knuckle on them, letting you place the ball deep in the opponent's court! What really impressed me was that after bouncing on the opponent's side, the ball would pick up a bit of topspin. The ball would also wobble with knuckle effect — it seems like this anti rubber's biggest strength is how the spin itself changes. If your opponent tries to push your push back, the ball just keeps floating up on them. And since it's an attacking type, then it's smash time! I think this could be a great rubber for penholders, blockers, or choppers.

This is STIGA's newly released anti-spin rubber, so I bought it with half-hearted expectations. The topsheet is hard and slick. The sponge feels maybe a bit soft? The feel off the racket is hard, though. I tried it out right away — my opponent was an elementary schooler with weak spin, so that's a factor too, but of course every ball comes back reversed or knuckling. My opponent did make a few mistakes, but didn't seem to have much trouble with it overall. When I hit hard, the ball doesn't bounce, so there's no distance and no speed. On top of that, because it's hard, control was also difficult. So the only things I could really use it for were blocking and pushing. If at least the control were good I could see using it, but the control is bad too, and I couldn't find anything about it worth using. Maybe a chopper or someone who regularly plays with unusual rubbers would find more good points in it...? It has no real standout traits and felt no different from any old-school anti-spin rubber. Lastly, if you asked me for one good point, I'd say it's that the word "anti" isn't in the name. (Although the moment you hit with it, the sound and the way the ball behaves give it away as an anti rubber right away...)
