Donic Spike P1 is a classic defensive pimpled rubber designed for the ambitious, technically advanced defender. The ribbed pimpled top surface makes possible a vast array of variations of play and extreme backspin. Even when a thinner sponge is used, the defender has the ability to vary the degree of spin up to maximum rotation. This rubber has been developed in close association with WANG XI, one of the best German Bundesliga players for many years.

    • Medium hard sponge
    • elastic pimple rubber mixture
    • extreme backspin
    • especially designed for the classic defender
    • good for attacking play

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
This pimple rubber is evaluated as an excellent defensive rubber for choppers, boasting superior spin performance despite being pimpled. However, low speed performance and high sensitivity to spin make consistency an issue depending on user skill level.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Exceptional spin performance for a pimple rubber, especially praised for cutting effectiveness
    • Strong defensive capability against all types of drives
    • Low speed performance makes it challenging for beginners
    • High sensitivity to spin makes chops prone to floating
    • Good balance between sponge hardness and pip characteristics
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveThe spin output is exceptional, and chops work against any drive. The defensive performance is at a godly level.
▽ CriticalSpeed performance is modest, and high sensitivity to spin makes chops prone to floating. Stability requires good technique.

Up Down Service (Experience: 6〜10 years) Ugh

The amount of spin variation is the best of any long pips out there.
I'd say it's the No. 1 rubber a chopper should be using.
No matter what kind of drive comes at you, your chop lands on the table.
The push isn't all that fast, but
if you're talking about defense, its performance is godlike.
That's what a teammate of mine told me.

Majora cut man (Experience: 6〜10 years) A well-rounded long pips rubber

      Reviews by user

The sponge is hard, and the pips felt neither hard nor soft, right in the middle. Even against weak backspin, for a hard-sponge long pips rubber, you can get a decent amount of reversal if you knock the pips over properly. Because of that, it's easy to add variation to pushes, and the backhand also produces a slight arc, making it easy to use. That said, compared to every long pips I've tried so far, the bounce felt a bit on the strong side — partly a skill issue on my part, but it's easily affected by incoming spin, and my chops tended to float.
Finally, just my personal impression, but let me compare using the Curl series as CP-numbers, the Feint series as FL-numbers, and the Spike series as SP-numbers.
Reversal (spin-reversal performance), reverses well ⇆ doesn't reverse
      CP1>SP1>>FL2>>>CP4>CP3α=SP2>FL3
Reversal on pushes etc. (against weak spin), reverses well ⇆ doesn't reverse
      FL3>>CP2>CP4>>>FL2>SP1>>CP3α>CP1
      Bounce, doesn't bounce ⇆ bounces
      FL3>>SP2>CP4>>FL2=CP3α>>CP1>SP1
Sensitivity to spin, insensitive ⇆ sensitive
      CP4>>SP2>>CP3α>CP1>>FL2>>CP1>FL3
      Chop stability, stable ⇆ unstable
      CP4>>SP2>FL2>SP1=CP3α>>CP1>>FL3

The speed isn't great, but the amount of spin it puts on the ball is amazing!!
It might be a bit tough for beginners.
