Tried this out with penhold pips.
This was my first time with short pips (not counting variation-type pips), and it was pretty good - flat hits in particular were excellent.
That said, even though there's tack on the pips, it still slips when it wants to slip, so I wonder if the tack was even necessary.
But when you hit it so the ball sinks in a bit, it tends to settle in surprisingly well.
Honestly though, apart from flat hits, it's a bit mediocre...
Since I'm new to short pips, I'll give it an overall score of 9.

I was struggling to find a rubber to put on my super-bouncy blade when a former coach from my old school gave me this one.
It's short pips but tacky, so I expected a spin-oriented short pips rubber, but the spin turned out to be so-so. Still, thanks to the tackiness it doesn't slip, so even with a hard-to-control, super-bouncy blade, meet-style shots are easier to pull off than with other short pips, and you can send back stable, consistent balls.
If a short-pips beginner uses this it might build some odd habits, but if you're going to stick with short pips for the long haul, I think this could be a rubber for life.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I bought this new on Mercari. At first I thought "wait, it's tacky!?" but it turned out to be only mildly tacky. I expected a spin-oriented short pips, but it seems more focused on speed and control. My impressions: on the forehand, it has a decent amount of spin for short pips, making loops and speed drives easier to do. On the backhand, I put it on a defensive blade, the Genshu L, and probably thanks to the tackiness, the ball goes in on a stable course without flying around wildly. If you chop it, the ball drops right into the opponent's court, which made things like chop-blocks easy. Regular blocking works fine too. For topspin drives, if you let the ball sink in a bit, power drives and speed drives were easy to do. Flat-hit techniques overall land consistently, thanks to the stability and speed, letting you aim precisely. I felt this is a rubber for beginner to intermediate players.

A confusing rubber - it's short pips but somehow also tacky. I figured being tacky meant the ball wouldn't drop off, but it drops off constantly.
No speed at all either. I didn't feel any dramatic spin from it either. I honestly couldn't find anything good about this rubber. No idea at all, but maybe it's good for choppers...? (zero evidence for that)All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I bought this once because I wanted to try short pips.
The thickness is "thin." There is definitely some tackiness, more like a "slight tack" feel. I used it on a Japanese penhold blade. Maybe because of the sponge thickness I chose, ball speed wasn't that high, but as the Nittaku catalog says, it felt easy to put spin on the ball, so I think it would suit players new to short pips who are switching from inverted rubber, or players who use topspin drives with short pips. However, the pips wear out fast, though I guess that's to be expected given the price.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

A tacky short pips rubber is kind of a mystery, haha (nervous sweat)
I was curious so I tried it out. And surprisingly, I ended up liking it lol
