    I bought this once because I wanted to try short pips.
    The thickness is "thin." There is definitely some tackiness, more like a "slight tack" feel. I used it on a Japanese penhold blade. Maybe because of the sponge thickness I chose, ball speed wasn't that high, but as the Nittaku catalog says, it felt easy to put spin on the ball, so I think it would suit players new to short pips who are switching from inverted rubber, or players who use topspin drives with short pips. However, the pips wear out fast, though I guess that's to be expected given the price.
