STIGA Horizontal are our latest long pimple rubbers, developed in close collaboration with former Japanese National Team player Masato Shino. The pimple structure of the Horizontal 20 and Horizontal 55 is placed in a horizontal angle providing more effective spin and a variety in your game. These rubbers are made in Japan and developed specially for the ABS-ball to increase the spin of the modern defensive game.

This is the (hard) sponge version of the Horizontal series.
I used the thin one.The sponge color is a light gray.
Compared to Feint Long 3 (white) and Curl P-1R (yellow), which I'll use for comparison below,
it's a sponge color I've never seen before.
As the "55" in the product name suggests, it's a fairly hard sponge.
The pips are on the harder side too.Performance-wise, I felt it sits somewhere between Curl P-1R and Feint Long 3.
Compared to Curl P-1R the variation is milder, but it feels more usable.
It bounces more than Feint Long 3, so at first I kept worrying about overshooting.I'd recommend this to people using Feint Long 3 who feel its chop variation is lacking,
or people using Curl P-1R who find it hard to handle but don't want to give up on chop variation.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

This is my impression after putting this on a Vanda Offensive with a Chinese penhold grip. First off, even though it's long pips, it's surprisingly easy to attack with. You can push, but you can also smash with the pips and even topspin drive. It's fast too, so it changes up the tempo and made it easier to score points. That said, the amount of variation isn't all that big — just blocking the ball barely produces any effect, but if you actively try to put spin on it yourself, it chops decently well.
This rubber tends to get attention from choppers, but I'd also recommend it to penhold pips players who want to boost their attacking power!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Municipal top (Experience: ６〜１０ years) Worth trying for the modern chopper

It pairs well with a Defensive Pro blade. It's softer than TSP's Curl P1. It's harder and has taller pips than the Horizontal 20. If you draw the ball in and swing fully through on a chop, you can grab a decent drive or hard hit. There's a fair range of variation. Since it came out after the plastic ball era began, it suits the plastic ball well. It has more range of variation than long pips rubbers other makers have kept on sale since the celluloid days. This is just my personal opinion, but the long-pips rubbers from the celluloid era have less range of variation with the plastic ball and tend to float, whereas the Horizontal 55 is completely different. Push shots are hard unless you can draw the ball in and cut thinly underneath it. Before trying this rubber, it's better to get a feel for things with a softer pips rubber like the Horizontal 20 first. A lot of people drop the ball when the opponent easily stops their chop. It's also easy to counter-hit with. Recommended for modern-style choppers! *Sponge thickness: extra-thin.

This is a rubber where you can really feel STIGA put in the effort ✴
I was originally torn on the Donic Spike P2, but I got curious and decided to try the Horizontal 55 instead.
Honestly, it combines the nasty variation of the Curl P1 with the easy handling of the Feint Long II - it's the ultimate long pips rubber!
These days it's a tough era for long pips to shine, but this one has great reversal ability. Even when it's hard to win on cut/no-cut alone, the way it extends or dies is excellent!It's also easy to handle sudden power shots, and if you swing it, it really bites into the ball, so I recommend it ✴
If you find the Curl hard to use, or you're using the Feint Long II and want a bit more hardness, this is the rubber for you!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
