    This is the (hard) sponge version of the Horizontal series.
    I used the thin one.

    The sponge color is a light gray.
    Compared to Feint Long 3 (white) and Curl P-1R (yellow), which I'll use for comparison below,
    it's a sponge color I've never seen before.
    As the "55" in the product name suggests, it's a fairly hard sponge.
    The pips are on the harder side too.

    Performance-wise, I felt it sits somewhere between Curl P-1R and Feint Long 3.
    Compared to Curl P-1R the variation is milder, but it feels more usable.
    It bounces more than Feint Long 3, so at first I kept worrying about overshooting.

    I'd recommend this to people using Feint Long 3 who feel its chop variation is lacking,
    or people using Curl P-1R who find it hard to handle but don't want to give up on chop variation.

    I'm using the 0.5mm version.

    · Chop
    It doesn't get affected much by spin, but maybe because it has some bounce,
    you'll get a lot of overshoot misses until you get used to it.
    That said, its ability to change and reverse spin is top class among long pips.

    · Push/short push
    A cutting push is hard to pull off.
    If you're not careful it basically comes out as a knuckle ball,
    so opponents tend to target it a lot.

    Even at 0.5mm, the push can be fast and sharp.
    But it lacks stability, so it's hard to aim your return at a specific course.


    This is a rubber that basically throws away stability and goes all-in on unpredictability.
    Even at 0.5mm it bounces quite a bit and it's hard to cut a push, which is the downside,
    but in exchange, as mentioned above, the change and reversal ability is extremely attractive.

    Personally I think of it as an upgraded version of the Curl P-1.
    Recommended for anyone aiming to be an aggressive chopper!

    Drives bounce well, chops don't bounce.
    This rubber embodies exactly what a chopper would wish for.

    I expected spin to grab solidly,
    but it avoids the usual dilemma of spin-oriented tension rubbers
    where more spin also means being more affected by the opponent's incoming spin.

    If anything, it's strong against topspin,
    and combined with the firmer sponge (hardness 47), it rarely lost out to the opponent's spin.

    Putting backspin on the ball feels different from other rubbers — the trajectory comes out flat and straight.
    This is also what gives that non-bouncy feel when chopping.
    Because of this unusual trajectory, it might take some time to get used to,
    but once you do, you can use low chops as a weapon, so I'd recommend it.

    It's a short-pips type rubber, so it can be used with large balls.
    The variation on shots is huge, and the ball loses speed a lot, so shots I thought were going to sail long often ended up landing right at the edge of the opponent's court.
    I'd recommend this for large-ball chopping players and anyone who leans heavily on defense.

    Looked at as a short pips rubber, the ball that comes back has quite a bit of quirk to it.
    Looked at as long pips, it surprisingly has real speed and comes back with spin on it.
    So in that sense, it doesn't have the extreme traits you'd get from a dedicated variation short pips or long pips rubber,
    but it's more like a rubber that keeps a bit of each of their characteristics while making them easier to handle.

    Used for chopping, the trajectory comes out fairly flat and straight.
    You don't feel much of that typical long-pips variation,
    but controlling how much cut you put on the ball was easy.
