  I used it on a Chinese-style penhold blade, switching it between the forehand and backhand sides.
  It's a combination of a firmer sheet and a softer sponge, but for me it worked out well — not too soft on the forehand, and not too hard on the reverse side.
  Even when I'm thrown off balance a bit, I can still return the ball with stability, and there are no particular weaknesses in serves or short-game handling either. Personally, the technique I felt the most confidence with was meet-hitting, which I could swing into regardless of forehand or backhand.
  Basically, it suits players who attack close to mid-distance from the table. I haven't tried it myself, but I imagine players who play from away from the table or who are good at transferring power would go with the regular X instead.

  The one thing that bothers me is the weight. Even though it's the soft version, at thick it can end up over 50g after cutting, so it's a bigger burden for anyone who isn't confident in their arm strength or stamina. (I put it on the whole surface of a Chinese-style penhold blade and regretted it.)

  中ペンでフォアとバックを入れ替えながら使用。
  固めのシート＋柔らかめのスポンジの組合せですが、フォアで使うと柔らか過ぎず、裏面だと固過ぎずと、私には都合の良いラバーでした。
  多少崩されても安定して返球することが可能で、サーブや台上での処理にも特に穴はありません。個人的に一番手応えを感じたのはミートで、フォアバック関係なく振っていけます。
  基本は前中陣で攻めていく人向きでしょう。私は試していませんが、後陣でのプレーや力を伝えるのが上手な人はノーマルのXを使うのではと思います。

  唯一気になるのは重さです。ソフトとはいえ厚でもカット後50gを越えかねないので、腕力や体力に自信が無い人が使うと負担が大きめです(中ペンで全面に貼って後悔しました)。

  ARCTIC WOOD

  

  After doing some research to finally replace my racket after a long time, I decided on the Arctic.
  Just from the specs — the material, bounce, weight, design, and online reviews — I already had pretty high expectations, but after actually hitting with it I liked it even more.

  On light shots it bounces just a bit more than a racket from over ten years ago, staying within a range you can control. On hard shots it really bounces a lot, and it took some hitting to get used to adjusting the distance and spin.
  Focusing on your impact improves ball quality with any equipment, but this racket really stands out in that regard. I could see why people say it feels like nothing else out there. Whether I can really master it depends on how much work I put in going forward, but I think we'll be together for a long time.

  久し振りにラケットを新調しようと情報収集した所、最終的にアークティックを購入することに決定。
  材質や弾み、重量やデザイン、ネット上のレビューなど、スペックだけで相当期待していたのですが、実際に打ってみてますます気に入りました。

  軽打では10年以上前のモデルのラケットよりも少し弾む程度で、制御の出来る範囲に収まります。強打するとかなり弾んで、飛距離や回転の調整に慣れるまで少し打ち込む必要が有りました。
  インパクトを意識するとボールの質が向上するのはどの道具でも共通でしょうが、このラケットはその点がかなり際立っているように思います。今までに無い感じという評判にも頷けました。使いこなせるかは今後の努力次第でしょうが、長く付き合っていけそうです。

  I bought this because I was looking for a rubber suited to flat-hitting. The price is reasonable, which helps.
  If you hit it the way you would a spin-tension or tacky rubber, forehand shots can end up dropping short right away, so it's for people who consciously drive the ball forward themselves.
  Flat-swing techniques in general are easy to pull off, and it widened the range where I could go for flat hits.
  The ball path and timing are different from other popular spin-focused rubbers, so it has an annoying quality of its own, separate from tacky rubbers.
  The spin is average, maybe a bit lacking. If you think of it as being less affected by the opponent's spin on receives and blocks, you can look at that positively.
  If your form breaks down, the ball suddenly stops carrying, so for players who want to stay conscious of their posture and core when hitting, using this might actually improve the quality of their practice. You can adjust it a lot by changing hardness and thickness, so I thought it could also work well as a second or third rubber for less experienced players.

  ミート向きのラバーを探していたので購入。値段が良心的で助かります。
  スピンテンションや粘着の感覚で打つとフォア打ちの時点でボトボト落ちかねず、自分でボールを飛ばす意識がある人向けです。
  フラットに振る打法全般がやりやすく、ミートで狙える領域が拡がりました。
  スピンに重点を置いた他の流行ラバーとは球筋やタイミングが違ってくるので、粘着とはまた別の嫌らしさがあります。
  回転は平均的か少し物足りない程度。レシーブやブロックでボールに影響されづらいと考えると幸せになれます。
  体勢が崩れると途端にボールが飛ばないので、打球時の体勢や体幹を意識したい人が使えば練習などの質が上がるかもしれません。固さや厚さを変えれば幅の広い調整が出来るので、競技歴の浅い人の2枚目3枚目のラバーとしても良いのかなと思いました。

  MA LIN SOFT CARBON

  

  I bought this over 10 years ago, not long after it came out.
  For a special-material blade, the bounce is pretty modest, but since it was the glue era back then, that was easy enough to make up for. I think being able to experiment with things like Extend + Fusion or Sriver G2 + Catapult came down to how reassuringly easy this blade itself was to use.
  The spin feels about the same as a plain wood blade. As for speed off the blade, it's basically wood plus a little extra, so if you're expecting a lot just because it says "carbon," you'll probably be disappointed. For me, it was a good match because it let me boost my smashes and meet-hits without losing control.
  This year it took runner-up at the World Championships, so maybe it really is a well-balanced blade for handling today's high-performance rubbers. If you want control and the feel of hitting the ball yourself, this is definitely a blade worth trying.

  10年以上前、発売から間もなくの時期に購入して使っていました。
  特殊素材としてはかなり控えめな弾みですが、グルー時代ということもあって、そこら辺のカバーは容易でした。エクステンド＋フュージョン、スレイバーG2＋カタパルトなど、色々試行錯誤出来たのもラケット自体の使いやすさに安心感があったからでしょう。
  回転は木材合板と変わらない感覚で扱えます。弾く時は木材＋αで、カーボンという字面に期待する人には大分物足りない印象です。私にとっては、コントロールを失わない範囲でスマッシュやミートが強化出来たので好感触でした。
  今年は世界卓球準優勝と結果を出していますが、昨今の高性能ラバーを扱うにはバランスの良いラケットなのかもしれません。コントロールや自分で打っている感覚が欲しい人には是非試してほしいラケットです。

  A while after speed glue got banned, I got interested in STIGA products and bought this. There was a period when it was sold under the Yasaka brand, and the grip on mine has a Yasaka plate on it. For rubbers, I chose a combination I especially liked the sound of.
  The racket is quite light, and compared to my previous racket (the Ma Lin SC), the swing-through got better, which improved my play, and before I knew it, it had become my main racket.
  The feel is on the hard side, but the ball grip is moderate, and its strength is that the ball is easy to control whether you're hitting flat or putting spin on it. It's at a disadvantage away from the table because of speed, but you can still hang in there with spin.

  The one issue is the oddly light-sounding impact sound. Personally I'm into that sound, but I don't think it'll appeal to everyone, so I'm knocking off a bit from the overall score.

  グルーが禁止されてからしばらくして、STIGA製品に興味を持ち購入しました。YASAKAから販売されていた時期もあり、手持ちのグリップにはYASAKAのプレートが付いています。ラバーは特に打球音が気に入った組合せをチョイスしています。
  ラケットはかなり軽く、前のラケット(馬琳SC)に比べて振り抜きが良くなったおかげでプレーの質が向上し、いつの間にかメインラケットに昇格していました。
  打球感は硬めですが適度な球持ちで、弾いても回転を掛けてもボールのコントロールをしやすいのは強みでしょう。後陣は速度の関係で分が悪いですが、回転で粘ることは可能です。

  唯一の問題は妙に軽い打球音です。個人的にはハマる音なのですが、あまり万人受けはしない気がするので総合評価を－。
