  SYMMETRY

  

  Bought the black, thick version for penhold.
  The pip shape is roughly a 1:1 mix of cylindrical and trapezoidal. The fabric weave is solid. The sponge is a bit hard with good firmness.

  Speed is average, for better or worse.

  It gets a decent amount of spin and the ball traces a slight arc. That said, it's still no match for spin-oriented rubbers, and returning a drive with a drive of your own just isn't possible.
  On backhand blocks it produces a slight knuckle effect, and pushing straight through from behind the ball gives a nice knuckle ball.

  Pushes don't slip, but the spin is average.
  Stops hold well.
  Flick-type techniques are easy thanks to the hardness of the sponge.

  Blocks settle nicely and are easy to control yourself. The ease of blocking was the most impressive thing on my first time hitting with it.
  Counters are also easy. The combination of a harder sponge and a topsheet that doesn't slip much worked well for me, since I like to counter by timing a flat hit. Overly aggressive counter-drives do slip, though.

  Overall, this is a fairly orthodox pick among balanced tension-type short pips. It's quite close to Booster HP. If there's a difference, it's that Symmetry settles better on blocks, while Booster HP still reaches the opponent's side even when you can't get a strong hit in.

  Personally, I'd have liked a slightly harder sponge.

  ペン表、黒・厚を購入。粒形状は円柱 ：台形＝1：1くらいある。布目はしっかり。スポンジはやや硬くコシがある。

  スピードは良くも悪くも、普通。

  回転はそこそこかかり打球もやや弧線を描く。しかしやはり回転系には及ばず、ドライブをドライブでかけ返すのは不可能。
  バックショートではわずかにナックルになり、真後ろから押せばいいナックルが出る。

  ツッツキは滑らないが回転は並。
  ストップはよく止まる。
  フリック系技術はスポンジの硬さが手伝ってやりやすい。

  ブロックは収まりがよく、自身で操作しやすい。初打ちで一番印象的だったのがブロックのしやすさだった。
  カウンターもやりやすい。硬めスポンジ＋滑りにくいシートのの組み合わせで、合わせて弾くカウンターをする私には良かった。過度なカウンタードライブは滑る。

  総評としてはバランス型テンション表の中でもオーソドックス。ブースターHPにかなり近い。違うとすれば、ブロックの収まりが良いのはシンメトリー、インパクトが強く出せなかったとき相手コートまで届いてくれるのはブースターHP。

  個人的にはより硬いスポンジを希望したい。

  It has a reputation as an easy-to-use short pips rubber that's good for beginners too, but after sticking with it for half a year, my impression is the complete opposite.
  My impression is: "hard to master, but a short pips rubber that lets you win once you can use it."

  The pip shape looks like it should spin the ball, but I think it leans more toward the knuckle type than the spin type. Push it and you get a real dead-knuckle ball. Short game shots become a scoring weapon thanks to their nasty knuckle effect.
  It's quite soft, so if you let the ball sink in you can get spin on your drives, but if you brush it, it doesn't take much spin at all. It doesn't slip off carelessly, so the short game and steering shots are no problem - if anything, they're easy.

  Even a weak impact still gets the ball across to the opponent's court, but countering was a bit tricky since the rubber feels like it collapses on impact. It might suit players who sink the ball in and control it, but it could be tough for players who like to hit the ball flat on impact.

  If you like the knuckle performance and the softness, it could be a good partner for you. The knuckle short game shots were appealing, but I ended up giving it up because of trouble with forehand hard hits and counters.

  使いやすく表入門にもおすすめの表ソフトと評判ですが、半年粘って使った私の感覚は全く逆。
  「使いこなすは難しいが、使えるなら勝てる表ソフト」との印象です。

  粒形状は回転掛かりそうですが、回転系よりむしろナックル系に近いと思います。押したらドナックル出ます。ショートはえげつないナックルで得点源になります。
  かなり柔らかいので食い込ませばドライブかかりますが、擦るとそんなにかかりません。不用意にツルッと滑るわけではありませんので、台上や流す技術は問題なくむしろやりやすいです。

  弱いインパクトでも相手コートまで届いてくれますが、カウンターはインパクトにラバーが潰れてしまう感じで少し難しかったです。食い込ませてコントロールする人にはいいかもしれませんが、インパクトで弾く人には難しいでしょうか。

  ナックル性能と柔らかさが気に入れば、いいパートナーになるかと。ナックルショートは魅力的でしたが、フォア強打やカウンターに難があり私は辞めてしまいました。

  Fastarc C-1

  

  I asked a friend for advice on a penhold backhand rubber and was recommended an inverted rubber with a tacky topsheet that gives good grip on the ball, sits well on the table, and flies even without a hard hit.
  My (just an) image was that I wanted to swing my backhand like Ma Lin.

  And the conclusion is, it was exactly what I asked for.
  I wonder if it lasts a long time too? It's been about half a year now and it still seems usable. I only use it to start rallies with a topspin drive attack or to counter easy balls, so it's nice that it lasts.

  I really wanted to use Tenergy 25FX, but it's heavy and, more than anything, expensive... Of course, the ball quality is different from Tenergy in a bad way. But I'm not trying to land a one-shot kill or hit an extremely high-quality drive, so it's fine. (If you have the skill and timing, I guess you could hit great drives all day even with C-1...)
  If anything, it suits my penhold's occasional backhand use so well that I'll put up with the slightly higher price.

  There are probably other good rubbers out there, but the brand name value (= low risk of discontinuation, easy to compare with other rubbers) is reassuring.

  ペン裏面用に「グリップ力があるシートで、台への収まりが良く、強打でなくても飛んでくれる裏ソフト」と友人に相談して勧められました。
  イメージ(だけ)としては馬琳のような裏面の振りたいなぁと。

  結論としては、まさに要望通りでした。
  寿命も長いのかな？そろそろ半年立ちますが、まだ使えそうです。ラリーの起点にドライブ攻撃、甘い球へのカウンター程度にしか使わないので長持ちは嬉しいです。

  本当はテナジー25FXを使いたいのですが、重いし、なにより高価…。もちろんテナジーとファスタークでは、悪い意味で球質が違いました。でも別に、一撃必殺攻撃や、過度に質の高いドライブを打ちたい訳ではないのでオッケーです。(技量とインパクトがあれば、C-1でも質のいいドライブ打ち放題なのでしょうが…。)
  むしろあまりにペンの「たまーに裏面」に合ってたので、少々高価ですか我慢します。

  他に良いラバーもあるのでしょうが、ネームバリュー(＝廃盤リスクの少なさ、他ラバーとの比較しやすさ)は安心材料ですね。

  AQUA BLADE ROUND Ⅰ

  

  It's strange that this blade doesn't have any reviews yet.
  If you're a penholder who plays short pips on one side, this is a legendary blade you've probably used or at least heard of.

  Let me be blunt: the speed isn't that great, the ball doesn't have much carry, and the weight is a bit on the heavy side.
  That said, the hardness, the snap, and the sound it makes are unlike any other blade out there — really worth noting.
  If you're a shakehand inverted-rubber player, you might think, "It's hard and thick, but it doesn't produce much speed? That doesn't make sense."
  But for short pips, it's not about absolute speed — it's about pitch, initial speed, and trajectory creating the illusion of being "fast." And I think this blade is the best at supporting that.

  It has a strong ability to create that illusion of "fast," but since it doesn't actually generate that much speed, it's easy to control.
  I really think it's an extremely well-made blade built specifically for short pips.

  The downside is that since the ball doesn't carry, when your opponent backs off to mid-distance, it loses steam right around then, which drags the rally out.
  Another thing: it's fairly heavy, so if you put rubber on the backhand side too, your hand will suffer. Give up on that and go with a Chinese-penhold or a light Japanese-penhold instead.

  I've cycled through nearly ten other blades over the years, but I always come back to this one. It's been over 10 years since my first Aqua Blade, and this is my third one. Give it a try.

  これまでレビューが無いのが不思議なラケット。
  片面ペン表の人なら一度は使ったor聞いたことがある名品です。

  はっきり言って、スピードは大して出ない、球は伸びない、重量もやや重いラケットです。
  しかし、他のラケットにはない硬さ、弾き、響きは特筆物です。
  シェーク裏ソフトの人からすれば「硬くて厚いのに、スピード出ないラケット？意味分かんない」と思うかもしれません。
  しかし絶対的なスピードより、ピッチと初速、弾道で「速い」と錯覚させることができるのが表ソフト。それを補助するのにベストなラケットがアクアブレードだと思います。

  「速い」と錯覚させるための要素は高いが、スピードが出るわけではないので、コントロールは容易に出来る。
  本当によく出来た表ソフト専用ラケットだと思います。

  欠点は球が伸びないので、相手が中陣に下がるとちょうど失速し、ラリーが長引きます。
  もうひとつ、そこそこ重いので裏面をつけると手が死にます。諦めて中ペンか軽い日本式にしてください。

  これまで他のラケットも十本近く乗り換えてきていますが、結局コレです。初アクアブレードから10余年、今のが3代目です。お試しあれ。

  HEXER PIPS FORCE

  

  I've been using Hexer Pips Force as my penhold short pips rubber for 5 years now.
  I've tried various other rubbers, but I always end up coming back to this one.

  This rubber's biggest feature is the hardness of the sponge and its strong resilience. You can confidently hit hard smashes and counters with your own power.
  It also uses the same sheet as the standard (non-tension) balanced-type Hexer Pips, so it doesn't slip much and produces a moderate knuckle effect. Plus it doesn't fly on its own, which I think makes it well suited for penhold short pips.

  There are three downsides.
  First, since the sponge is hard, it's difficult to put spin on topspin drives. If you can't get a clean hit against backspin, the ball tends to fly flat with almost no spin. People who play fast-attacking drives may find it hard to use.
  Also, it doesn't produce knuckle effects on its own — you have to create the knuckle effect yourself.
  Finally, this rubber isn't worth using if you don't have a reasonably solid hit. If you're not particular about sponge hardness, there are plenty of good balanced-type short pips rubbers out there.

  If you prioritize the short game, and play a style based on lifting shots, meeting the ball flat, rallying, blocking, and countering, it's worth considering.

  Counters especially — just swing and it goes in.

  ペン表としてヘキサーピップスフォース5年間愛用中。
  いろいろ他のラバーを試しても、結果的に戻ってきてしまいます。

  このラバー最大の特徴はスポンジの硬さとコシの強さです。自分の力で強打、カウンターを安心して打てます。
  またバランス型テンション表の無印ヘキサーピップスのシートを使っているので、基本的に滑りにくく適度なナックルを出せます。かつ勝手に飛ぶわけではないのでペン表向きと思います。

  難点は3つ。
  1つは、スポンジが硬いので、ドライブの回転がかけづらい。対下回転ドライブでインパクト出せなかったときはかなり棒球になります。ドライブ速攻の人は使いづらいでしょう。
  また勝手にナックルにはならないので、自らナックルにしないとナックルになりません。
  最後にそこそこのインパクトを持ってないと意味がないラバーです。スポンジ硬度にこだわらなければ、バランス型表ソフトでいいラバーはたくさんありますので。

  台上を重視し、乗せ打ち、ミート、ラリー、ブロック、カウンター勝負の人は一考の価値ありです。

  特にカウンターは振れば入りますよ。
