A classic penhold long-pips blade.

Blocks stop the ball really well. With enough skill, it was easy to make an opponent's power drive bounce twice on the table and die.

It's also lightweight, and the thin grip made switching and overall handling excellent.

The downside is simply that it doesn't fly at all. But with a bit of personal ingenuity, the attacking side of your game can work out surprisingly well.

I wonder why it was discontinued. Maybe the successor, the II, is that much better a blade?

Pen grain del norte (Experience: ６〜１０ years) An ironclad penhold pips blade

This is for defensive penhold long-pips players. The feel is soft, control is extremely easy, and blocks stop the ball well. Pushes and angled hits lack a bit of speed because of that, but you can make up for it by focusing on placement so you don't give your opponent an easy ball. I was using sponge-backed long pips, but I think an OX (spongeless) rubber would suit this blade just fine too.

Monitan. (Experience: １１〜２０ years) For defense, good against pips

I used to use this for coaching, to practice against pips.
As everyone knows, the feel is very soft and it doesn't bounce much, so it's more of a defensive blade.
I think it's a really good blade for an unorthodox/all-round style.
Depending on the rubber, it might work for attacking too.
Personally, it's too light and I don't like that soft feel, so I never really used it in actual matches.
That said, it's a good blade for an unorthodox style or for practicing against pips.
It might also be an easy blade for beginners to use.

Blocks stop the ball really well. Your opponent won't enjoy that, lol. It's perfect for players who win by blocking, blocking, and blocking some more!
