I borrowed a friend's and gave it a try.
I used to have a tension rubber from the VEGA line on my Swat, so I was curious and asked to try it.
It had been in use for about two months already, but it still had a decent amount of spin.
When I hit topspin drives close to the table and at mid-distance, it produced a lower arcing trajectory. Unlike VEGA, which feels like it sinks a bit, this gave a really satisfying drive. I was also able to keep my pushes and serves low.
If you're not fully happy with the feel of the equipment you're currently using, or you're not sure what to get for your second rubber, this might be worth trying once.
That said, I wouldn't recommend it if you're not a fan of hard rubbers.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

A more user-friendly version of the VS401.
It has so little bounce you start wondering if it's really a tension rubber.
The catalog spin numbers aren't high, but the sheet grips the ball well, and since it doesn't bounce much, you can really rip through the ball on the short game and on chops.
As a result, you can actually get more bite on the ball than with Tenergy.

These are my impressions after borrowing a friend's.
First off, it has that classic Japanese-made feel — good grip on the ball and a clear, crisp feel.
If you're not a fan of the thick feel of German-made rubbers and prefer classic Japanese rubbers, I'd definitely recommend this.
That said, the actual amount of spin is lower than recent German rubbers or Tenergy, so it might not suit people who want a lot of grip on the ball.
My impression is that it's a spin-oriented tension rubber, but leaning slightly more toward speed in its design.
The overall balance as a rubber is very good, so if German tension rubbers haven't quite clicked with you, it might be worth trying once.

It doesn't have that much speed.
Spin isn't huge either, but it's easy to brush the ball.
Control is good, and I think a rubber like this is just right for the backhand.

I used this rubber on my backhand, and unlike recent German-made rubbers, it doesn't just fire the ball off on its own — it holds the ball well, so you can rally at your own tempo.
In terms of spin it does lose out to German rubbers, but for that reason I'd recommend it to players who want more stability, or who'd rather play table tennis at their own pace instead of the faster tempo German rubbers tend to push you into.
As for the short game over the table, though, it's a bit iffy... there are moments where it feels a little unstable, and German rubbers are more stable in that respect.
If your impact is weak it feels hard, but it's not that hard on strong hits, so I'd recommend it for an intermediate player's backhand, or for the forehand of a beginner who's coming from a fairly high-bounce rubber.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
