The speed and spin are good for beginners. But once you get the hang of putting spin on the ball, you start to feel it's lacking.
The control is good.
But it's hard to use against backspin.

I think this is definitely a solid rubber for beginners
I felt the ball sinks into the sponge better than with Mark V

I think this is a good rubber for your first pair.
I personally had Sriver EL on an SK Carbon blade.
I borrowed it from a friend to try, and there's nothing you can't do with it.
It's well-balanced, and I think it's good as your first rubber.
Also, for your first blade, I wouldn't recommend something crazy bouncy like a Fly ATT Carbon.
It'd be hard to handle. You're better off with something like an SK Carbon or a Duras.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Easy to use! The control is fantastic. If you spin the ball well, you can get quite a lot of rotation on it. In short, it's a rubber that honestly reflects the skill of whoever's using it. Compared to today's bouncier rubbers, there's no denying it feels a bit tame. For beginners, though, it's the best.

These are my impressions from using one that belonged to a senior teammate.
There isn't much bounce, but it was really easy to put spin on the ball and the control was great.
The one my senior had been using was over a year old, but I was surprised at how well it had kept its performance!
