NO.1 table tennis review site

It was being sold super cheap, so I bought it just for fun. It's the small-pips version. B-side.
I usually put regular tension rubber on my backhand, so at first it surprisingly didn't fly much and I had trouble getting used to it, but once I did, I could return fairly high-level players' drives with a nasty, tricky ball without any trouble.
Receives also come back as nasty, tricky balls once you get used to it.
But against top-level players, they just handle it normally (´;ω;`)
Well, I guess it depends on how much you practice. Lol.

The A-1/2 rubber is perfect for casual play and has a light feel on contact. Genuinely light. That said, the performance didn't feel like what you'd expect from a cheap OX rubber, so honestly I was surprised. Blocking is really easy with it.

I've been using this for several years now, ever since Nittaku's Specialist One that I used before it got discontinued.

Good points
Receiving is easy
Easy to chop back on knuckle balls yourself
You can hit backhand smashes
Half-volleys turn into knuckle balls
Easy to handle
Cheap
Opponents seeing it for the first time tend to be cautious, so they don't come out swinging hard right away
Fewer unforced errors on my end

Bad points
The amount of variation is on the low side
Speed isn't all that high either
If you just block a hard hit with a flat chop, the ball comes out as an easy straight ball, so you need a proper swing

The feel on contact is milder than Yasaka's own OX rubber, Cobalt.

A friend from my club put this on the backhand of a Japan Original as a joke.
I'd never used long pips myself before, but I borrowed it and gave it a try...
Whoa, even though there's not much spin on the ball, just meeting a powerful drive with it
lets you return it easily!!
Also, for hard hits on the backhand,
it stays stable if you hit it like a pips-out shot.
For chopping, it depends on the player's skill too, but I got a good amount of bite on it.
I think it's a rubber with a lot of versatility.
For a price of around 1200 yen, I think the performance is amazing! It's fun to use lol

It's really cheap, yet it still produces knuckleballs. I'd recommend it to beginners or anyone who hasn't tried short pips yet.

I used this for a short while (about 2 months) four years ago, so this review is a bit late, but here it is. Out of all the short pips rubbers I've used, this one suited me best. It was also this rubber that taught me how good OX rubber can be. It was easy to produce knuckleballs and just generally easy to use. Despite the low price, it puts out a strong ball. It's easy to control too, which is nice. Rakza PO is out now, but this A-1/2 can still hold its own just fine. Overall Rakza PO is better, but among OX rubbers this one is the best.
