  • MARK V HPS

    User review

This is a speed-boosted version of the Mark V.
It inherits the Mark V's ease of generating spin, so serves and pushes come out with consistent bite.
The control is also good, so I think it's easy to play the short game and counter with it.
Speed is fine for close-to-the-table play, but if you back off and hit, it falls short compared to recent German rubbers. It feels a bit lacking in power for hitting/flat shots.
Overall it's easy to use, so I think it's a good rubber for junior players or anyone looking for stable play.

The feel is on the soft side, but it's very easy to generate spin with. Speed is plenty too.
It's also lightweight and reasonably priced, so it's easy to match with all kinds of blades!
It's not a heavy, blast-through power-drive type, so I think it suits women who focus on forehand rallies, or men who play mainly chiquita on the backhand and quick, compact drives on the forehand!

There's a good amount of spin on this! The way drives carry through from mid-distance, the bite on serves, and the height of the arc are all amazing (^^)
It's a bit soft, so a harder blade gives you better balance along with easier flicking off the ball.
The speed is more than good enough too, but because it's so high-performance, fine control in the short game is a bit harder. It tends to sit up a little too high?
I think it's best suited for players who value spin and rally with drives from mid-distance.
Close to the table it flies a bit too much, so if you adjust the bounce with sponge thickness or your blade, I think it's usable there too.

This was a popular rubber a while back.
Since it switched to plastic (the ball), it doesn't fly as far. But this rubber has strong grip, so short-game drives, serves, and pushes over the table are easy!
The topsheet is on the harder side, so it's easier to hit off than the Mark V, which makes smashing easy too.
I'd recommend it for players who stay close to the table and want to score points with control and placement rather than power.
    It works pretty well (^^)

This is a high-performance rubber for both speed and spin.
Serves are easy to put spin on, and they have power too.
I especially felt the power on speed drives. It's a bit on the hard side and the rubber is a bit heavy, so you need to be careful with control.
I think you need a fair amount of skill and power to handle it.
Compared to Tenergy, this one is more speed-focused, and for a punchy hitting style, the V15 Extra produces a heavier shot.
I think it's easier to handle with a softer blade.
I think it's a good rubber for players who like to blow through with one fast shot, or for hard hitters.
