My first impression when I hit with it was that it's just plain heavy. It puts good spin on the ball and has good speed, but it's heavy. I don't think you can handle it without a certain amount of strength.
Also, this might just be because I'm not very skilled, but it took me a while to get used to the short game with it. Still, once you get used to it, it's a really good blade, so I plan to keep using it. I think it suits attacking players like loop drivers or close-to-the-table hitters.

  • RIGAN

    User review

This is a rubber I was using recently.
The value for money is so-so.
If you're going all-Yasaka (inverted rubber on both sides), I guess the progression would be Mark V → Rigan → Rigan Spin → Rakza 7 → Rakza X... and so on. (Well, that varies from person to person, but I do think going from Mark V to Rigan is a solid move.)
It clearly carries on the Mark V lineage — control is outstanding and it's easy to use.
It's faster than Mark V, but I think the spin is a bit weaker. (Though that could partly be down to my own technique.)
It's not a high-tension rubber, so as something to get you used to a bouncier rubber, it's a really good one

I borrowed this from a friend to try out.
(The overwhelming sense of security that comes with the name Mark V.)
It's not exactly the best value for money out there... but this one's solid.
It keeps all the ease of use of the normal Mark V, while boosting spin and speed.
This is the first rubber I've tried that's this easy to use while still giving plenty of spin and speed.
Might be slightly easier to use on the backhand.

  • Rakza 7 Soft

    User review

    It's quite soft.
Compared to Rakza 7, the spin and speed drop a bit.
But the control is really good, so I'd recommend it for the backhand of anyone who values stability. That said, chiquita and things like that are tough.
If you put it on the forehand, the spin and speed are a bit lacking, so I'd recommend it for the B-side (backhand) of beginners or anyone who values stability.
(I want stability on my backhand, so I'm going with this.)

    I used the large-pips X-1.
First of all, it produces basically nothing but knuckle balls.
    Smashes land fine.
I'd recommend it for close-to-the-table quick attack players and choppers.
