    I was looking for a racket close to the discontinued Matsushita Pro Model, and I'm satisfied - the feel is very close.

    It flexes just the right amount, so it's easy to block hard shots, and it bounces just enough for attacking too, not too much or too little. It holds the ball slightly, so I got the impression that topspin-based attacks are more stable than smashes with this one.

    As for rubber pairings, a slightly harder rubber seems to give the best balance. I also tried Provincial Team Hurricane, but it was too soft and sometimes flew with a bit of a floaty bounce, so I settled on Turbo Blue instead. Ilius S, with its firmer pips, gave just the right feel too.

    If I had to name a downside, it'd be the blade size being bigger than usual. It's fine on the forehand, but harder to swing through on backhand attacks - I felt the Matsushita Pro Model was better in that regard.

    Overall, I think this is an excellent racket.

    Please note this is meant for use as a chopper's blade.


    I was struck by how beautiful the finish is. Darker's rackets really are built with care.

    The feel is excellent - you get that pleasant hinoki sound and feel resonating through the blade. I'd guess that with an even softer rubber, the feel would be even better.

    Even though it's a 7-ply blade, it doesn't feel especially hard, and spin is easy to generate. At the same time, smashes come out with plenty of speed, so it's easy to use no matter what style you play.

    When chopping, though, it's a different story - the chops come out relatively low and slow. The spin amount falls short of thinner blades, but the stability is quite high for a standard-thickness blade.

    There aren't many similar blades to compare it to, but it's like a Masamune with less spin, more stability on chops, and easier smashing. It also cuts more cleanly with long pips than the Masamune does.

    Overall, I think this is a blade for choppers who play with a compact swing on both chops and attacks. The distinctive feel is sure to grow on you. Definitely worth considering.

    I tried it on both the forehand and backhand sides. Since it's on the soft side I thought it'd suit the backhand, but the push has a quirk, maybe because of how the ball comes off, so I ended up settling on the forehand.


    Aside from the push tending to float, which I mentioned above, this is a low-weakness rubber where every technique is easy to pull off.

    In particular, the fact that returning topspin and smashing backspin balls stays stable even with this softness is clearly a strength.

    I think it's too soft for hard hitters, so I'd recommend it for the forehand of middle/high schoolers, women, and senior players.

    Compared to Tenergy, the sheet lasts a lot longer, so I'd also recommend it for the value for money.
