Coming from a 5-ply or single-ply blade, this one really does bounce a lot.
I like a blade that holds the ball well, so I struggled at first, but once you get used to it, you can actually get quite a bit of hold on the ball — though it's definitely tough at the start.
But once you get used to it, it's a really good blade. The price is what it is, but if you're up for it, give it a try.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

On the forehand
- Serves have great spin and it's easy to vary strength.
- Drive spin, power, and flicks all feel
pretty good.
On the backhand
- Blocks stop the ball well.
- Sidespin and reverse chiquita are easy to do.
*Note: the grip is thick and round, so opinions will differ on it. I ended up sanding mine down to a fairly oval shape.

This is my third blade, and it's really easy to use. Spin, speed, control, feel — everything was good. It pairs well with Hurricane Neo 3 and Fastarc G-1. I'm glad I bought this blade.

EY Hard to choose the right rubber

I normally use a Butterfly ZLC carbon blade. Since that one flies too much, I had high hopes for the Ren, so I bought the 81g FL version. andro's tenptec blade had been great for speed, stability, and feel in the past, so I had high expectations for the Wa no Kiwami series.
My conclusion: this is a difficult blade. It didn't pair well with Tenergy 05 — the feel was kind of hollow. But it paired really well with the Rasanter V42 I put on the backhand, so maybe the forehand needs a Rasanter-series rubber, or a tacky rubber.
It seems compatibility really depends on the rubber combination and the person. I didn't find it as easy to use as the tenptec. What bothered me most was the drop in speed compared to a fast-flying carbon blade. I'll try some different rubbers and see how it goes, but compared to its reputation, my impression right now is more "huh, really?" than expected.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

I was a beginner using a 5-ply blade, but I wanted more speed and a better feel, so I bought the Wa no Kiwami Ren ST (84g), which has beautiful wood grain.
I've got Rozena (thick) or Souki Hurricane 2 (medium) on the forehand, and Rozena (medium) on the backhand.
Smash speed became a lot faster, and with Rozena the feel wasn't too hard — surprisingly soft, with a satisfying "pop" feel.
Even with Hurricane 2 the feel isn't too hard, and you can put fierce spin on the ball.
With Rozena on both sides, the total weight is 174g.
That's about the same as the 5-ply blade I used before, and I can really go for it with drives and smashes — I think it's an easy blade to use.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

Takuto (Experience: ２〜３ years) Recommended for your first tacky (tacky tension) rubber

I used Mazepro Blue (WRM) on the forehand and Rasant R47 2.0mm (andro) on the backhand. This was my first time using a tacky tension rubber, and I'm glad I didn't put it on a 5-ply blade — if I had, it would have handled well and spun a lot, but ended up with no power. Using the Wa no Kiwami Ren, I felt I could get a really good balance of handling, spin, and power all together. The blade itself weighs around 80g, and the total weight with rubbers was about 180g. I'd like people who are just moving up from a 7-ply entry blade, or who feel their 5-ply blade lacks power, to try this one. Also, the andro lettering on the grip sticks out a bit and can rub against your hand, so if that bothers you, maybe steer clear — and watch out for splinters on the grip too (mine hasn't stabbed my hand yet, though). If you've been using a heavy blade and driving with full centrifugal force, you might not adjust to this one right away, but I can recommend it to intermediate players and above in general (except choppers and single-sided long-pips players). It's not a wild, "crazy-flying" blade like a carbon blade.

It's a 7-ply blade but weighs in the 80g range, so it's quite light.
Being light makes it easy to put spin on the ball, and since the top ply is hard, it works well with both tacky rubber and tension rubber. I'd recommend it if you want to put a heavy rubber on a 7-ply blade, or if you're after a lightweight 7-ply blade!Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness hard
