Roundell gives you good control for the amount of speed and spin that can be produced.
This flexible rubber now comes to you with a softer sponge that enables more dwell time for the ball. Roundell Soft is a High Tension rubber and is for players who need consistent control.
- Pimples in
- Superior control and stability performance
- Soft sponge friendly for beginners
- Optimal for backhand surface usage
- Speed and spin slightly underwhelming
- Reliable for short-range techniques

Ham taro (Experience: 4〜5 years) A tension rubber for beginner-to-intermediate players

I used this on the backhand side of my Nittaku Sanalion S.
The sheet and sponge are both quite soft, which is perfect for a style where you let the ball sink into the sponge. Because it grips the ball so well, shots don't fly off unpredictably and land consistently on the table.
Blocking and the short game in particular are nicely insensitive to the opponent's spin (in a good way), so you can return the ball consistently while shrugging off a fair amount of spin. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants stability in their short game.
Compared to high-elasticity rubbers, it's also extremely easy to put spin on and it's soft, so I'd recommend it to beginners trying tension rubber for the first time too. That said, it's too soft to generate much power, and its spin performance is lower than spin-oriented rubbers, so power hitters should go with a harder sponge or a different rubber.
Given all that, this is a rubber I can recommend for the backhand, or the reverse side of a penhold blade, for players who value consistency in their finer technique, or who are trying tension rubber for the first time.

I'd say this is for beginners.
It's not the kind that flies off wildly, but it's not dead either — it bounces just fine.
If a beginner wants to step up their game, a quirk-free rubber like this is good.
Also, it's light, so it's easy to swing all the way through.

Tanaka 0569 For those seeking a soft tension rubber

This is a pretty soft tension rubber.
That said, if you can swing all the way through, I'd recommend the "Hard" version instead.
Still, it's a beginner-friendly rubber with a nice loud, satisfying sound off the ball.

The sponge is soft, and the ease of control is top-notch!
But it's too soft for me, so if I use it, it'd be on my backhand.
It's reasonably priced too, so I think it makes a good second rubber! All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Do you know the difference between Roundell Soft, Roundell Hard, and regular Roundell? Speed and spin are all the same across the Roundell line. So why, as I explained in the headline, does the spin come out the way it does? It's because how the ball grips the rubber differs depending on the softness of the sponge. That's what's called sponge hardness. The lower the sponge hardness, the easier it is to put spin on the ball. Even with Tenergy, once the rubber part wears down, the sponge still lets it grip the ball well, so the spin still comes on. If it works on a similar mechanism, then among Roundell rubbers I'd guess Soft is the way to go... sorry for going on so long.

The first thing I noticed when I used it was how great the control is.
The sheet is soft. I have it on my backhand, and the control is really good — I can even chain backhand topspin drives now. That said, since the sheet is soft it scratches easily, so handle it with care.
Also, the spin and speed feel a bit lacking,
so I'd highly recommend it to people who prioritize control above all.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

First off, the consistency is really high. I almost never had overshoot misses. Spin is fairly good. Since it's soft, speed doesn't come out much.
Compared to regular tension rubbers or spin-tension rubbers, I feel like it falls a bit short in a lot of areas. I wouldn't recommend it for the forehand. I think it's good for the backhand if you want more stability there, or for intermediate-level players' backhands. All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft
