TSP Spectol has been a top-seller for decades and one of the best-known short pips-out rubbers worldwide. Numerous major championships were won by players using Spectol, and even today many top table tennis stars rely on the special features of this legendary pips-out rubber.
With Spectol Blue, TSP presents a new high-end version featuring integrated Dynamic Tension Technology for aggressive pips-out playing style. This rubber is a unique combination of speed provided by the hard open-pore tension OFF sponge and great pips-out effect provided by the special Spectol pips geometry. The blue high-performance sponge of Spectol Blue is slightly harder than the sponge of Spectol Red.

Unlike the Red, this one is designed to be firmer, so you need some power to drive the ball, but overall the balance is good and it's easy to use.

What really stands out is the balance between offense and defense — it handles every technique at a very high level! In particular, spin is easy to generate for a short-pips rubber, and even pushes bite more than you'd expect, catching my opponent off guard. If you like it harder, go with the Blue!

Rather than sinking the ball in and launching it the way past tension-type pips-out rubbers do, this one bounces off the sponge's elasticity with a nice "pon." I'd guess the Red version is probably closer to the older tension-type feel.
Either way, it's an all-around player with no weak spots. In particular, the spin — usually a concern with speed-oriented rubbers — was seriously good. Angle shots are easy too, and you get knuckleballs as well.
I also had a player with a long history of using short pips try it, and they seemed to like it a lot.
That said, there's a downside: a rubber that's easy for you to use is also easy for your opponent to play against. In that sense it's a bit different from Spectol, which is easy for you but hard for your opponent.
Either way, this seemed like performance that could become the new standard for vertical-pip speed-type rubbers.

I'd been eagerly waiting for this release!
After trying it, both bounce and spin are totally solid! Of course it's not quite like the glue era, but there's no doubt its performance surpasses the previous version.
