I think it works fine if you use it as that.
As a penhold short-pips setup, it was too hard for me. I also put it on a firm blade, so I think anyone using it will get a better result pairing it with a softer blade.Smashes, counters, and blocks were all good, but I found serves and the short game difficult.

This is the first short pips rubber from the Spectrum series I've used, and the ball leaves fast, giving a good sense of speed. Also, on defense you can return the ball with a sharp trajectory from close to the table, so it's a rubber that excels at both offense and defense.
That said, the ball doesn't travel very far, so I can't really recommend it to people without much arm strength or anyone worried about being late on their swing.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Hard

The sponge is the blue sponge, and the topsheet is also on the firm side.
If you've got power, you can get really high performance out of it, but if your arm strength is lacking, it's wise to avoid the blue version!
Even though it produces knuckle balls easily, spin techniques and the short game are still easy to do!
Also, in matches, even up against Tenergy or short pips, you can trade shots without losing out!
It's not much affected by variations from the pips, and I think it gives your opponent a hard time, making it an easy rubber to win with!
I also think it's perfect for high schoolers whose bodies are still developing to dominate speed rallies!
And for the other side, I'd recommend a spin-oriented tension rubber!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

This rubber really feels like the definitive short pips rubber. It's nothing like those wishy-washy "spin and control both!" rubbers out there.
My first impression, honestly, was knuckle, knuckle, knuckle balls, lol — during basic drills you get so much knuckle it's almost embarrassing to your partner.
Looking at the pips, they're really thin compared to other short pips, and quite tall — about the same as the normal Spectrum, actually.
As for the topsheet, it feels really hard to the touch. When hitting, it felt more like semi-hard, so it wasn't as hard as I expected. Thanks to this hardness, you get tons of dead, knuckle-ball effect.
However, since the sponge is hard, you need power to produce strong shots. Unless your form is solid and your impact at the moment of contact is strong, the ball goes straight into the net. It's not a rubber for playing around — it's a serious one. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to give their opponent shots they hate, lol.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

After trying it, the knuckle ball isn't much different from the Spectrum, but combined with speed it really shows its power close to the table!

It's good for both offense and defense, but it's on the firm side, so having some power probably helps. I was fine with it since I use a black balsa blade. Anyway, it's well-balanced and easy to use. Beginners might be better off with the Red, and so might people who love the original Spectrum. But it was a really good rubber!
