It has a moderate amount of speed and spin, and it's more than good enough as an entry-level rubber for both flat hitting and topspin drives. It's similar to Mark V. Personally I sometimes put it on my backhand for a more stable defensive game, and since it weighs under 40g, I'd recommend it for a defensive backhand or for cutting down overall weight.

Just like the title says, as long as the angle is right, backhand topspin drives go in quite reliably. Regular drives go in pretty well too, even with a fairly casual swing.

My daughter joined the table tennis club in junior high, so I bought her a racket with the Kasumi Basic blade paired with Ventus Basic Express.
Forehand topspin drives and backhand blocks are easy to do with it.

When I first started, I had it on both sides. It's easy to use techniques on both forehand and backhand. The forehand feels a bit off. But as long as the angle is right on the backhand topspin drive, you can swing hard and it goes in with insane speed lol

It's pretty hard for a control-oriented rubber.
Spin didn't bite all that much.

I used the 1.8mm thickness on the forehand side of a chopper's blade.
Mine was red, and first of all, the color looks great. The sheet also has this nice, moist-feeling texture that feels higher quality than the price suggests.
When I actually hit with it, the bounce was a step up from a traditional high-tension rubber like Mark V. Maybe somewhere between Mark V and HPS. It flies off with a pleasant feel and sound on contact. Of course it doesn't feel like the ball just flies off on its own — it still has that solid high-tension "I'm the one hitting this" feeling.The amount of spin isn't extreme, but it's more than enough, and chops bit well too.
As for counter-attacking, drives work fine, but really sinking the ball in for a meet-hit style shot feels great.It's not affected much by the opponent's spin, so receives and play over the table go exactly as you intend. As for control, there's just no comparison with tension rubber.
Honestly, I can't find anything bad to say about it.
Unless you're someone who absolutely has to have tension or tacky rubber, I don't think there's anyone who wouldn't like this rubber.It's a shame that the maker itself has positioned it as "the opening act to the Ventus lineup," or "a rubber you eventually graduate from," because I think this beats Mark V in almost every respect — a rising star among high-tension rubbers.

I'd recommend putting this on your forehand to learn meet-hitting (flat hitting)!
A new student recently joined our team and is using Ventus Basic.
