This was the rubber I used when I first started playing table tennis.
I put it on a low-bounce 5-ply wood blade, and maybe thanks to that, serving was really easy. Of course pushes and drives, and regular forehand and backhand shots, were all no problem either.
People say it's good as a second rubber, but I think if you're using a 5-ply wood blade, this would work fine as your very first rubber too.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

For anyone who's been using a high-tension rubber and is making the switch to tension rubber, I think this one is a good choice — it holds the bounce back a bit while still giving you power.

For a beginner rubber, I think it bounces quite well!
So my smashes got more powerful too! The spin feels good as well!

Full-fledged table tennis from an uncle! (Experience: ２〜３ years)

About 30 years ago, I used to play ping-pong penhold-style for fun in elementary school club activities.
Then a few years back, once I'd hit my late 30s/40s, something got me started with table tennis for real.
This was the first rubber I used after switching my grip from penhold to shakehand.I was looking for something well-balanced for a beginner.
Personally, I found it especially easy to control, and I think it's perfect for basic practice.
My coach told me that when practicing drives, I was naturally putting topspin on the ball without even thinking about it.
That said, because it's soft, when you hit hard it kind of "squishes," so it might lack a bit of stability.

It's very close in both price and character to Gambit, which is also made by TSP. According to the spec numbers, Ventus Basic leans more toward spin and Gambit leans more toward speed, but I doubt beginners would really notice much of a difference. Either way, it has a good balance of spin, speed, and control, so it's a safe rubber to recommend to beginners. It's cheap too.

This was the rubber my club advisor put on my racket when I first started in junior high lol. I'd recommend it for beginners. It works even if you haven't settled on a playing style yet — I guess you'd call it a classic all-around rubber? A friend of mine who's only been playing for two years uses it too, and honestly it's strong, so it also holds up for a long time. It handles close-to-the-table play and mid-distance drives without any trouble! And if you have a fast swing, it produces some really sharp shots!

Being German-made, the performance is good. You can loop backspin balls up with confidence.
I was skeptical about the performance at first, but overall it's not bad at all. Speed and spin are decent with no weird quirks, so it's an easy rubber to use (true to the Ventus line, no bad habits). It's classified as high-tension, but it performs about like a light tension rubber.
For beginners I'd recommend the medium sponge, and for beginner-to-intermediate players, thick or above. It holds its own against rubbers like Vega Intro, GTT, and Ligan.
