I put this on a Diode V and gave it a test hit.
First, the chop had a slow, floating feel to it. It gave a reassuring sense of "if it hits, it's going in."
Also, attacking was really easy to do. It had that sinking-in feel, and the sound didn't feel like typical long pips.

After the switch to plastic balls, pushes with Curl P4 started floating easily, so I was looking for a replacement long pips rubber.
I tried Donic's Spike and a few others, but the balance wasn't great, so as a last resort I tried this one.
Chopping is good, but with Curl P4, the pips would collapse the moment you put any weight into a push, pushing the ball out and making it float. With this rubber's Vertical 20, which has slightly harder pips than Curl P4 but the same sponge hardness, that floating stopped happening.
Also, if you brush thinly across the bottom of the ball with a fast swing, you can still get decent bite even with long pips, and pushes are easy to handle.
If chopping were the only thing that mattered, I'd stick with Curl P4, but for a chopper, pushes matter just as much, and I figured if equipment can cover a weakness you just can't fix otherwise, it's worth relying on.
It's a matter of preference, but Vertical 20, which matches Curl P4's sponge hardness, holds the ball a bit better and felt more natural to me than Vertical 55.
If you're a chopper struggling with knuckle balls or stops floating on your pushes, I'd really recommend giving Vertical a try.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

I'm using a thin version of Defensive Pro on the backhand side.
It's incredibly soft compared to other pips.
It's so soft and easy to grip that it feels like it'll fly off if you push it even a little. However, the amount of spin it generates when cutting or pushing is tremendous. You can hit it gently to create a knuckleball-like effect, or hit it hard to create a lot of backspin; it offers a lot of versatility.
Side note: I think I'm clearly using it incorrectly. Because it's soft and has a certain amount of bounce, it goes in normally with a swing similar to a tension rubber. It's good for surprising your opponent with changes in spin and speed (lol).All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Pushes and chops are super consistent. It's also easy to put your own spin on the ball. I think the amount of variation is quite significant (I say that having used Curl P1 before). Highly recommended for choppers.

Using this thin sponge on a Defensive Classic.
A good rubber that lets you return the ball consistently. Low trajectory, and there's a real sense of security that if you make contact — whether close to the table or chopping — it'll come back.
That said, it doesn't give you the pips-style variation.
It's easy for me to return, but by the same token it's easy for my opponent to return too.
You can chop sharply against a spinny drive, but the ball comes back straightforward.
During rallies, the opponent almost never misses off some random pips-like variation, so you have to create the variation yourself.For sheer ease of returning, it's far ahead of things like Curl or Feint, so if you want consistency, this is a safe pick.

I've been swapping between Curl P4 and Feint Long III once every 1-2 years depending on my mood and form.
Since the plastic ball came in, the trajectory on pushes has gotten unforgiving if your swing is even slightly off, but with this rubber the ball goes exactly where I expect it to.
Not just the low trajectory — the moment a mishit touches the blade, I can instantly tell "that contact was bad, it's going to float."I'd recommend this to players who want to learn the basics of long-pips chopping, as well as those who want a predictable, straightforward pip that gives them consistency.
No worries at all about cutting sharply against a strong topspin drive. It just rips right through.

I'm a chopper!
I also covered the DNA Dragon Power 55° in another review.
I'm using the extra-thin version, and it's very soft.
The controllability is especially good!
I used to use Butterfly's Yuris S (extra-thin), but the sponge was very hard and difficult to use, so I switched over to this rubber.
The push is good too, and I can play a stable game.Correction: in my review of the DNA Dragon Power 55°, I made a typo when describing the sponge as hard — sorry about that.
