It's a 5-ply but the board thickness is 6.8mm, so it really feels like a 5-ply leaning toward 7-ply, or a 7-ply leaning toward 5-ply. Think of it as somewhere between the Korbel and the SK7. It's got an antibacterial ply too, and while the wood keeps that classic wood feel on the plies, it adds bounce on top of that, and it doesn't end up feeling half-baked - it's easy to handle (my sense is the bounce slightly wins out over the wood feel). The impression didn't change between large-ball and hard-ball play. I get the feeling this would really appeal to women of any level or age, and to men playing short pips on the backhand.

Writing again.
I had a beginner-to-intermediate level kid try the Mace Advance, and I was surprised!
Their drives were more stable than usual, and blocking was more stable too!
The kid really liked the blade and said "maybe I'll switch to this one~"Features of the Mace Advance
- It's pure wood but flies quite a bit- Compared to pure-wood blades like the Korbel, it doesn't hold the ball as much, so lifting backspin might be hard for beginners
(if you're used to a blade with slightly quicker ball release like the special-material ones, it's not a problem at all)- Control is outstanding (blocks go in almost just by touching the ball)
- The ball tends to go deep, so you need practice to avoid overhitting
- It's light, so switching between forehand and backhand and firing off consecutive topspin drives is easy (about 80g)
I switched to the Mace Advance from a blade that held the ball really well, so lifting backspin was really hard for me at first. But while practicing my drives with a cleaner form and being conscious of my weight transfer, before I knew it I was able to lift backspin balls!

I switched from the Korbel to the Mace Advance. The feel is incredibly good!!
What changed
- The ball is faster than with the Korbel
- I don't lose out on spin as much as I did with the Korbel (quite a bit better)
- Blocking is very easy
- Control is better than the Korbel
- I feel like the Korbel held the ball a bit better
(backhand drives and flicks were easier with it)
- Topspin rallies (long rallies) and counters seem to go in more easily than with the KorbelThat's about it. It's fun to use.

Bought this as my 1st blade!
It flies pretty well for how light it is. Compared to special-material blades it's not quite there, but for a 5-ply blade I think the bounce is more than enough.
Definitely feels like a Tamas blade.

This is my 1st blade
It's just really light with excellent control! It doesn't bounce too much so you can go for a full swing with confidence. Switching is quick so it's great for firing off consecutive topspin drives close to the table and at mid-distance. Also, it's easy to put spin on and the stability for the short game is amazing.
The downside is that when your opponent presses you back, the ball gets shallow, which is tough. Also, lifting backspin was difficult. (Carbon blades are easier for that)

Bought this as my 2nd blade
It's light so it's easy to get fast shots out, control is good too, and it's cheap, but blocking is a bit unstable (still satisfied though)
