Wanokiwami - a unique project. Takeshi Wanaka, a Japanese carpenter with the focus on processing noble woods and andro developers worked together hand in hand. Wanaka, a well known greatness in his field with many international awards, brings all his know-how of selection, processing and bonding premium-wood into this project. The andro development team has deliberately left a free hand to Takeshi Wanaka in many respects to allow influences from another wood processing branch. The andro development team has impressively accomplished to guide these influences and ideas into the right direction and the result is a qualitatively outstanding blade line. Promotion players, coaches and test players have confirmed this numerous tests with one voice.
The Wanokiwami AO convinces you right from the moment you take it into your hand for the first time. Carefully grinded corners, an ergonomically adapted thumb pad and 100% evenly thick veneers – that’s pure feeling!
The wood’s soul is a 4.2mm thick core veneer providing the wood a high flexural strength resulting in a direct and straightforward ball-feedback. The two affixed intermediate and upper veneers provide a special distinguishing feeling transorming AO into a top-class wood.Wanokiwami AO – a wood like none another.

The first thing that surprised me was how much the ball flies and the feel on contact. It's all-wood 5-ply, but it really flies!
And it's controllable flight. You can do delicate touches, but it's also easy to play away from the table! You can really smack the ball from back there. Maybe that's because the blade head is on the larger side? The grip also has a distinct shape, so it takes some getting used to at first. But once you're used to it, this grip becomes a real "weapon." I think the sense of security comes from the grip. And the feel on contact is amazing! (Just my personal impression.) It flexes about as much as the Acoustic, but the core is really firm. That's a good thing for all-wood fans. And the sweet spot is ridiculously wide — though that's probably because the blade head is big.It works with pretty much any rubber. I think a harder spin-oriented tension rubber suits it especially well. Power Grip also tones down the "wild horse" feel a bit. (^^)
As for playing style, I'd recommend this for all-rounders, power players, and choppers too.

Very easy to use. I'd say it's one of the most user-friendly 5-ply blades out there. Pairs really well with Rasant Power Grip! Blocking is easy too.

This pairs incredibly well with Hurricane Neo. The spin on loop drives is insane — when it hit an opponent's long pips, the ball flew way off the table. Blocking is also stable, so it's a very well-rounded blade.
