      This blade has a great feel and is easy to control. This feel is something you can only get from wood — specifically, a single-ply hinoki blade.
      Whether you put spin on the ball or hit it flat, with this blade it almost feels like every shot lands on the opponent's side of the table.
      Firmer inverted rubber or short pips both suit it well. Personally, I felt Evolution MX-P was the best match.

      I found a brand-new one on an auction site, so I bought it.
      I started playing table tennis about 22 years ago, and this blade had already been around long before that. It used to cost 7,000 yen, but it looks like the price has gone up since then.
      These days my style is mainly shakehand chop, but I bought it on the spot out of pure nostalgia. I put Sriver on it.
      I can't use it in matches, but my impression was that it's really light and bouncy. Hitting the sweet spot gives you good speed. It was easy to control too. I realized that no matter how many years pass, a classic stays a classic.
      If I were a Japanese penholder, this is definitely a blade I'd have used all the time.

      Single-sided player (Experience: １１〜２０ years) Cypress is the best after all!

      I've been using this since 8th grade.
      I think it was 7,800 yen back then.
      I've used the Rorin, the Speed series, and various plywood blades (all around 90g±5), but the ball you get hitting with the Cypress is just different. Especially from away from the table, the ball speed and the way it carries is something other brands' blades just can't produce!
      Right now I use the Cypress JP-II, but it plays the same as the Cypress S.
      These days the game is centered around techniques like the chiquita, which puts Japanese penholders at a real disadvantage, but I'm going to keep using it.

      Back in the day it was standard to use Cypress or Yamato.
      A lot of people still use it even now, don't they.
