Recommended cypress veneer model for a wide range of players

A blade with a heavy feeling of 10 mm in thickness enables a powerful hit ball. It is also recommended as a cypress veneer racket which the athlete aiming for the pen drive type first takes in his hand.

Rice (Experience: 2〜3 years) The impressive form as a single-ply

      Player reviews

This is a Butterfly single-ply penhold blade. I bought it when I first tried a single-ply blade because people said it's the one to start with.
But the ball really flies, and I can use all kinds of drives without any trouble. You could almost call it a blade for life (lol)
That said, since it's single-ply, if you hit the ball head-on it'll sail long. Angle is important. I don't feel like there's any rubber that clashes badly with it, so I think it's a really good blade.

Masamune (Experience: 6〜10 years) Soul of the pen-drive style

      Player reviews

It has all the thickness, hitting feel, and holding sensation you need for penhold looping.
If you get a heavier individual blade in particular, you can hit some seriously heavy balls.
Put tension rubber on a 100+ gram one and it's really something.
If you want to experience the qualities of 10mm-thick Kiso hinoki, definitely give it a try.

Even though it's 10mm thick, it has just the right elasticity and ball-holding feel, and it really stands out for how easy it is to use.

greenbeanmachine (Experience: 2〜3 years) Excellent control, keeps the speed you want

      Player reviews

Maybe I just need a faster rubber. But I found this blade to be quite a bit slower compared to my Darker Speed 90. The control is excellent, and it's a great blade for beginner Japanese-penhold players or anyone trying Kiso hinoki (Japanese cypress) for the first time.

Marumu (Experience: 6〜10 years) Both power and stability

      Player reviews

I used to play with a 5-ply, and compared to that, a single-ply really does have great ball-holding feel! The ball comes off fast and travels well with real pace! People tend to go for the GMAX for power, but considering the price, the TMAX gives you more than enough power too! Because the ball releases quickly, you can play knuckle balls and other variations without being affected much by your opponent's spin. What impressed me most is that you can still swing through solidly even off-balance, how easy the short game is, and how easy it is to produce knuckle-ball variation. The TMAX is a balance-oriented single-ply, but it still delivers solid power, and stops and chiquitas are easy too — it really shows its strength on the attacking side as well! There's also the GMAX and VMAX, but I think the TMAX alone is good enough to use for a lifetime.

A blade that makes the ball come off really fast.
Combined with the rebound of Bryce Speed, my short shots turned into long ones (my vocabulary is failing me, lol)
