Yasaka’s rubber technicians have been at the forefront of taking the “the big steps” in the development of table tennis rubbers. When the ITTF banned the use of speed glue and also the use of booster Yasaka started intensive development work.

MARK V HPS SOFT is a top of the range fast table tennis rubber and gives you all the characteristics required for advanced offensive play.

MARK V HPS SOFT is the result of the newest Japanese rubber technology.

    The HPS technology gives:
    • improved dynamics in the sponge
    • more speed and spin, without higher weight

Mark V HPS SOFT has a slightly softer sponge than the regular Mark V HPS, suitable for offensive allround players..

I compared this one to Mark V as well.
It's a lot easier to use.
Backhand drives are easy to do.
Even though my backhand is weak, this covered for it quite a bit.

gold (Experience: Less than a year) Recommended for beginners

      Reviews by user

It was really easy to use.
I used this back in my inverted-rubber days, and the fine short-game work was easy to do, and topspin drives weren't all that slow either. Of course, it gets spin too and drives went in easily.
If I had to say one thing, it would be that there's not much difference from the regular HPS.

Sho-go (Experience: 11〜20 years) Bounce is boosted

      Reviews by user

The sponge is now the "Hybrid Energy Sponge," and the bounce has definitely gone up.
It really does bounce noticeably more.
On top of that, since it's a soft sponge, the ball sinks in well and spin is even easier to generate.
It's a soft sponge, but it doesn't buckle under pressure, so it's a rubber that even players with a strong impact can swing with confidence.
This is definitely a rubber that will appeal to a wide range of players, so if you're tired of today's tension rubbers, going back to Mark V with its new sponge might feel refreshing...

This rubber adds speed, plus even more spin on top of that, to the regular Mark V, while keeping it easy to use.
It's a rubber I can recommend to beginners and intermediate players.

Yutchi @ cut The speed version of Mark V

      Reviews by user

This is a rubber built around Mark V's speed performance. It basically keeps that easy-to-use Mark V feel, so I think it's suited to beginners. For the short game, it obviously doesn't fly off as much as a tension rubber, so it's easy to control! It's no match at all for a tension rubber in terms of drive speed or spin, but since a lot of beginners and intermediate players haven't mastered tension rubbers yet, I think this is a good rubber to build fundamentals with first. I think it suits a softer blade well!

The performance is pretty average overall. I'd recommend it over Mark V for anyone who wants a bit more speed.

The feel is kind of in between a regular rubber and a high-tension rubber.
It bounces quite a bit, yet it's still easy to control, so you can play a well-balanced game.
