Ventus Speed is the hardest and fastest variant of the TSP Ventus series. When designing this offensive rubber, the Japanese rubber experts focused on perfect balance between high speed, maximum spin development and great control. The open-pore 45° sponge of Ventus Speed features the new “Optimized Rotation Concept” and is truly made for spin. Thanks the new sponge design, this new TSP development guarantees longer ball contact which results in more rotational energy transfer on the ball. In addition, the higher trajectory resulting from the “Optimized Rotation Concept” provides for great feel and more control in your play. The fast performance top rubber sheet of Ventus Speed develops tons of power and tremendous drive both for aggressive opening loops and mid-distance topspin attacks. This rubber doesn't look particularly hard, the sponge isn't hard, and it's light in weight, yet it puts out quite a lot of speed.
On top of that, it's not too hard and not too soft, so it honestly doesn't care what blade you put it on. (It doesn't just not care — it practically overrides the blade entirely.)
It's also cheap (well, cheap for the pricier end of TSP's lineup), so if you try putting just one on your forehand, I think you'll be satisfied.
From light, gentle topspin drives all the way up to drives with maximum-power impact, it draws a nearly perfect arc and lands in the court.
Honestly, even hitting it lightly gives you spin and distance, but it seems like its true performance only really comes out with some pretty reckless full-power hits.
With a celluloid ball, the ball dents a bit and the contact area shrinks slightly, reducing spin, but plastic balls don't dent as easily, so the rubber can take some seriously hard hits.
It's also really stable on blocks and counters — I couldn't quite believe it, so I tried some genuinely reckless full-power hits, and to my surprise it stayed stable. It's a rubber that works well across the board, from beginner to advanced.
Weak point:
The surface gets dirty almost as easily as a tacky rubber, and once it does, it becomes harder to put spin on.All Speed Spin Control

I thought it might work as a Tenergy substitute, but the ball holds onto the rubber a lot more. Unlike Tenergy, where the ball just flies naturally, you have to put in your own power to make it fly, so it's tough if you don't have much strength. The spin is beyond complaint.

It gets spin, has plenty of speed, and is good enough that everyone would be satisfied - a good rubber where you can really feel it grabbing the ball. Long serves are very fast.

This is a good rubber.
Drives don't arc much and come out flat. The ball sinks in easily and it's easy to control, but keep in mind the maximum amount of spin isn't that high.
Its strength is speed.

Apparently it's originally TSP's Ventus Speed, but it's more spin-focused than speed-focused.

Has it changed since the TSP days? Back then, my impression was that the sheet sank in more than it needed to, without much spin to show for it, and I remember thinking they should just make the sheet the same as Ventus Super. Buying it again after a while alongside Limber, the sheet seems to have become the same as Ventus Extra's - maybe? - and it's become much easier to use.
In terms of feel, it's basically a softer version of Ventus Extra, and since I found Extra hard and heavy, this hits a sweet spot that I'm really happy with. It grabs the ball firmly, spins it well, and draws a proper arc. Being able to hit that kind of ball consistently is reassuring. It's not all upsides though - the spin isn't amazing, the speed is about average, and the weight is on the heavier side, so I can't recommend it unconditionally. But I do want people who are drawn to Ventus Extra's performance and value but have given up on it because it's hard and heavy to give this one a try.
