I'm a complete beginner with long pips — this is my first pair. A friend gave it to me.
The first thing that surprised me was that I could actually generate my own spin with it.
The serve wasn't quite as sharp as with inverted rubber, but it had about as much bite as a speed-oriented short pips. If I tilted the pips over and hit through, I could even loop drive.
The next surprise was the chop. The ball dug in deep on the opponent's side of the table, producing shots that looked hard to handle.
On blocks too, mixing in some sideslip against a loop drive made the ball dip down. Chop-blocks also had quite a bit of bite.
This is just a beginner's impression, so I may have gotten some things wrong, but please bear with me.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Rallys believers (Experience: Less than a year) A rubber that adds variation

I used it on a carbon blade with a sponge, and it stops chop blocks really well. Pushes are stable too. However, since the pips are a bit harder than soft-pip rubbers, they're a little more affected by incoming spin. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to win with variation.

Splinter (Experience: ２〜３ years) Grips the ball, for better or worse

It has a soft sponge combined with hard, high-friction pips. Maybe because of that, it grips a lot of spin for long pips, but by the same token it's also more affected by the opponent's spin. It's not that the ball flies too much for long pips, but for someone unskilled like me, it's easy to end up just feeding the opponent chance balls, so I think this is a long pips rubber where controlling both placement and spin yourself really matters. Whether you find that "easy to use" or "hard to use" is probably what splits opinions on it.

I'm pretty much a beginner with long pips, but my practice partner has always used pips, so I'm comparing against that experience.
The first thing I noticed just bouncing the ball was that it grips almost as much spin as short pips would.
That impression didn't change once I actually played with it — using it on a shakehand backhand, swinging the same way I would with inverted rubber, I could put real spin on both topspin drives and pushes. The opponent receiving it also said it had more spin than a penhold short.
The chop flies low with a sharp cut and was easy to keep controlled.
Honestly, compared to something like the Curl, the variation is smaller, but this one is clearly better in terms of ease of use and spin performance.
It's cheap, so it's fun to just try it out — I'd recommend it!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

It doesn't have much power or speed, but it's stable.

Let's go (Experience: ６〜１０ years) Different from the 007 and 009

This felt a bit different from the same maker's 007 and 009. Compared to the 007, which has a thicker topsheet and is quite easy to attack with for an OX rubber, and the 009, which has a slightly firmer sponge and is even easier to attack with, my first impression hitting with this one was that it's very susceptible to the opponent's spin. The sponge is very soft — it almost feels like it absorbs the ball rather than returning it. Used on the backhand of a shakehand blade, it makes the push really easy to do, and there's quite a bit of wobble and curve in the ball's flight. I felt this suits shakehand backhand pips better than penhold pips. I've used the whole Phantom series, but this rubber alone has a distinctly different character. It's one for connoisseurs.

This rubber feels like something between the Curl P-4 and the Feint Long III. One of the big draws of long pips is the value for money, and this one's list price is cheap too! Trying a Tenergy feels like a big step to take, but with this rubber pretty much anyone can give it a try, right? Lol. It has no weird quirks and is easy to use! It's great for pushes, and it also blocks reflex shots solidly. That said, it doesn't produce much variation, so it's best for beginners to long pips, or for advanced players who can create their own variation!
