The TSP Grandy is a very well-balanced allround rubber for talented newbie players. Strengths of this modern rubber include excellent control and a tacky top rubber sheet for easy learning of all spin variants. In addition, the TSP Grandy produces sufficient speed for attacking.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
The rubber is praised for its excellent control and user-friendly characteristics, ideal for beginners, while many point out insufficient speed and spin performance. Some advanced users successfully utilize it, making its value dependent on application.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Superior control performance ideal for learning fundamentals
    • Limited speed capability with weaker offensive power
    • Soft and responsive texture makes spin easy to apply
    • Excellent value for money with relatively long durability
    • Versatile for beginner to intermediate players
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositivePerfect rubber for beginners—very affordable with solid performance. Outstanding control and good spin generation make it ideal for learning basic techniques.
▽ CriticalInsufficient spin despite friction application, making it difficult for beginners to understand spin mechanics. Speed limitations make it susceptible to power shots; starting with higher-performance rubber may be more beneficial for skill development.

Beginner (Experience: Less than a year) Perfect for beginners!

      Reviews by user

This is just my personal opinion...
Calling it the best rubber might be an exaggeration, but
beginners should really use this one.

I think buying a Grandy and practicing with it
is 3.5 billion times more fun
than buying an expensive rubber and regretting it!!

goma (Experience: 4〜5 years) Maybe okay for a beginner's backhand...

      Reviews by user

This is a control-type rubber. If you're a guy with a decent amount of strength, it's better to start table tennis with a higher-performance rubber on your forehand. I started playing table tennis with this after the switch to plastic balls, but since it's hard to put spin on, I ended up developing a weird loop-heavy stroke and had a hard time fixing it. I think it's better to put something like Vega Europe on your forehand and use this on your backhand.

Grandy (Experience: 6〜10 years) God-tier rubber

      Reviews by user

Everyone calls it a beginner rubber, but it's strong! It's probably on par with Rasant. It feels like a tension rubber in the ¥5000 range with control added on top. Even players using Tenergy can be beaten normally with counters or short drives. A ball that's hard for a Tenergy user to smash
is the perfect prey for a Grandy user. If you improve further, you'll probably be able to smash everything too. The only thing is it lacks a bit of speed, so pairing it with a 7-ply blade or a special-material blade makes it perfect. It's cheap too — the best rubber!

Em (Experience: 2〜3 years) Control comes first, after all

      Reviews by user

Since it's meant for beginners, I tried pairing it with the Section blade, and since both are control-focused, I could manage a push rally without any trouble. Once you get to a level where you can start doing topspin rallies, how about gradually upgrading your equipment - blades like the Swat or Fly@Carbon, and rubbers like the Summit or Fly@Spin?

Since it's a beginner rubber, control is excellent, but the speed and spin are, well, about what you'd expect from a beginner rubber.

I think it's really good for beginners to use! You can learn the basic techniques with it, so I think it's a good idea to start with this rubber and then try out different ones from there. As a beginner rubber, it's great!
