The TSP Grandy is a very well-balanced allround rubber for talented newbie players. Strengths of this modern rubber include excellent control and a tacky top rubber sheet for easy learning of all spin variants. In addition, the TSP Grandy produces sufficient speed for attacking.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
The rubber is praised for its excellent control and user-friendly characteristics, ideal for beginners, while many point out insufficient speed and spin performance. Some advanced users successfully utilize it, making its value dependent on application.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Superior control performance ideal for learning fundamentals
    • Limited speed capability with weaker offensive power
    • Soft and responsive texture makes spin easy to apply
    • Excellent value for money with relatively long durability
    • Versatile for beginner to intermediate players
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositivePerfect rubber for beginners—very affordable with solid performance. Outstanding control and good spin generation make it ideal for learning basic techniques.
▽ CriticalInsufficient spin despite friction application, making it difficult for beginners to understand spin mechanics. Speed limitations make it susceptible to power shots; starting with higher-performance rubber may be more beneficial for skill development.

Novice kid (Experience: 4〜5 years) Perfect value for money

      Reviews by user

The best rubber among beginner rubbers.
It's cheap, but the performance is still pretty solid!

Both the spin and the speed aren't bad,
and personally, if you're thinking of buying something like Flextra or Jamin,
I think you're better off just putting this on both sides.

The only real rivals would be the TSP Tally-Bit or maybe Yasaka's Original Extra.
But since Grandy has better value for money,
I think this is the safe choice if you're torn.

Grain love (Experience: 2〜3 years) Every technique feels easy

      Reviews by user

From hitting with it, it feels like a lower-tier version of Ventus Spin
Speed, arc — Ventus Spin wins
      Control — Grandy wins
Spin — Grandy wins if you let the ball sink in
It lasts longer than Ventus Spin — after a year and a half of use, the spin has only dropped a little
Basic techniques are very easy to do, but like the reviewer "Uppee!" said, there's a ceiling on speed
If you're using this rubber and want more speed, I'd recommend Ventus Spin.

It's very easy to handle, and being soft makes it easy to put spin on too.
It's cheap, and above all control is so easy that it feels like you can return any kind of ball.

A friend of mine has been using this rubber for four years without changing it,
and even though it's beat up around the edges, he could still drive properly with it.
Maybe it lasts a pretty long time?
Even a worn-out rubber like the one I mentioned above puts on tons of spin if you let the ball sink in.
Also, it doesn't bounce too much, so I thought it was a really easy rubber to use.

Cheeky table tennis department (Experience: Less than a year)

      Reviews by user

      Easy to use for beginners.
It puts on a decent amount of spin, so shots go in properly even without much speed, and it's easy to control even for a first-timer, and I could do the basic techniques without much trouble.
Personally, backhand serves were easy for me with this (^.^)

TSP fans (Experience: Less than a year) A weirdly subtle feeling!

      Reviews by user

      This rubber (Grandy) is
      a bit lower in performance
compared to other rubbers, but as a practice rubber
it's really excellent, a solid rubber in its own right.
In rallies you'll lose out on spin,
but once you start winning, I feel like you start growing
into a player who's strong in spin battles!
As a practice rubber though, (thinking about it)
      it's a bit pricey.

This is the rubber that comes pre-mounted on the beginner sets in this section. After switching from Grandy to Vega Asia, I really realized again how good this rubber's control is and how all-around easy it is to use! Even if I ever feel like switching rubbers, I think I'd just buy Grandy again.
