Hard. The sponge has next to no bubbles in it. Heavy. Even at 2.0mm, if you put this with long pips on a defensive blade, it ends up about as heavy as a normal attacking blade. But chops go in cleanly. Smashing against loops is really easy with this. That's the part I'd recommend it for, for choppers.

I used to have Glayzer on my Timo Boll ALC.
I kept overshooting way too much and felt it didn't suit me, so I decided to switch.
The conventional wisdom seems to be to switch to a softer rubber, but I did the opposite and looked for a harder-sponge rubber instead. That's how I found out about the Vega DEF at 57.5 degrees, so I put it on and tried practicing with it.
The sheet felt on the softer side, and I didn't feel the 57.5-degree hardness at all.
I tried all sorts of things, and it handled everything smoothly with excellent control.
Serves got plenty of spin too, and drives and stops were both stable.
True to the DEF name, I also tried chopping with it, and the control there was good too.
Honestly, this is an all-round rubber.
I think people avoid it because of the listed hardness, but the sponge was soft enough that you'd never guess.
Speed probably drops a bit, but you can compensate for that with your blade.
It's a minor rubber, but I really think it's a hidden gem.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

I'm a chopper and used this on my forehand. I was using Hurricane Pro 2 before, so at first it felt quite difficult to handle. But the amount of spin is amazing, and it looked like it would be hard for opponents to loop even my pushes. It has plenty of speed too, so I'd recommend it to choppers who also want power on their attacks. It bounces, but chops still stayed on the table. I think this is the best rubber out there for choppers.

This is a rubber strictly for advanced players. The amount of spin you get from brushing the ball is on the level of a tacky rubber. It's quite hard, so chopping is difficult with it. But it does put spin on the ball.

It's hard and heavy, so opinions on it are clearly split.
It bounces more than Vega Pro, and despite being hard, the ball doesn't slip or drop off — it really grips the ball.
The feel isn't overly hard either, so for people who like hard rubbers, this is a gem.If you're fine with a hard, heavy rubber, it's worth using.
I really wonder why they marketed the DEF as a chopping rubber.

I'm a topspin drive player! The first thing I noticed was the sound — it's insane! It's such a metallic clang that a friend asked me "did you put something on that?" Topspin drives (and serves too) get plenty of spin, but they don't go very deep... Smashing was easy to do! Putting spin on with this rubber takes some getting used to! It took me about 2 months before I could really get spin on it!

An all-purpose rubber you can use for both chopping and attacking.
That said, it weighs 50 grams, so if you don't have much power behind your shots, you probably want to skip it.
But I think it works if you put pips on your backhand.
If you put it on a Ma Lin Extra Offensive, the extension gets absolutely ridiculous. All Speed Spin Control Hardness Hard
