It's hard and just flies, and when you really get the ball to sink in, the nastiness of the shot is insane.
I couldn't handle it and peeled it off after about 2 weeks, but it's a rubber I'd like to try again once I've improved more. Not a rubber to pick lightly. Regular players might be better off with something like R48?All Speed Spin Control Hardness Hard

This is my impression of R53 after having used R48.
I shouldn't have casually thought "let's go one level harder for more power."
People say it feels softer than the hardness number suggests, but after having used the 48, this one is clearly harder.Honestly, an intermediate player can't fully use it (lol)
Long balls fly like crazy. In close, contested rallies there's a real risk of over-missing.
If you can drive the swing with your lower body, it's still usable, I think.
And above all... it's heavy...
Even on an Acoustic, which was already a light unit, it feels weighty. And even mounted on a lighter Award Offensive, it still feels heavy.On the plus side, the trajectory is low and sharp — even lifted shots dip down. Though that's assuming you can control it (lol)
For blocking, if you counter with an extending motion you can attack with good rhythm. Stopping the ball is also fairly easy.

It's not as hard as people make it out to be — if anything, I found it a bit soft. The spin is as strong as Tenergy, and looping usually makes most opponents over-miss. It's faster than Tenergy and the ball gets rough in a good way, so it should be hard for opponents to read. You can return the ball without losing out to your opponent's shot, so both countering and the short game were really easy. This rubber tends to make you over-miss easily, so I think it's best used with the mindset of adding spin to keep it on the table.

What surprised me most is that despite the hardness, the feel is soft, kind of like Fastarc G1. The speed and spin are way stronger than G1, no comparison. The downside — it's ridiculously heavy. Heavier than the Hurricane NEO I had on before. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. But if you have some power and are an intermediate player or above, it might be worth trying.

Who actually puts something this hard on a low-bounce chop blade?
Not sure who this will help, but as a former chopper now playing an all-around pips style, this turned out to be the best rubber for me, so I'm leaving a review.
Because of that, the feel is completely different from how it'd feel on an attacking blade. Please don't take this as a reference for that (lol)To start with, there's R and V, which is confusing, but the difference is arc (spin) versus straight line (speed).
Look it up for details.
Also, R53 and R47 (was 47 released at the same time? I forget) differ from the rest of the R series in that the topsheet is softer.
So between R50 and R53, R53 is actually easier to spin and feels softer.
That said, the sponge hardness is 53. Get the ball to sink in, and you get a fierce smash.That hardness is both the strength and the drawback.
But since a chop blade is soft, it doesn't end up too hard overall.
Might be too hard for a full chopper, though?
Since I play an all-around pips style, I add spin on the forehand, create chances on the backhand, and finish with a smash off that hardness-53 rubber.To sum up:
- On a chop blade, it's not that hard
- If you want a devastating smash with an all-around pips style
- And you want to load up the spin beforehand for that

I went with this on both sides. It's a bit heavy, but I have no problems using it. Before, I was using a rubber around 47° hardness on both sides, but it felt a little soft, so I switched to this. If you swing through on forehand and backhand it goes in fine, and it grips more spin than the Tenergy 05 I'd used before.
It sinks into the sponge well so I don't really feel the hardness. I use a fast, springy outer blade, and even swinging hard it still lands in. It's fairly hard so I can swing with confidence. This has been the best rubber I've ever used. I plan to keep using it going forward.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Rasanter R53 — for its listed hardness, it's not actually that hard.
In terms of feel, it's as easy to hit with as other makers' 47.5 rubbers.
It's easy to hit, and the speed and power on the ball are amazing. It suits players who like to swing hard and attack, but using it on both sides works fine too.
